I agree. Roger is a decent trainer, but not someone you would want to train you if you don't have Floyd/Hopkins/Marquez in-ring IQ when it comes to figure things out on your own. Roger likes to state the obvious by saying this fighter can't fight backing up, ect, but he never really specifically tell Floyd how to limit his opponents best weapons, ect.

bwahhaha. *******s are getting pwned Left and RightRoger will recieve recognition once he actually takes a fighter from scratch and turns him into a world champion. Floyd Sr laid the foundation for Floyd Jr. Roger merely took over after Floyd learned all the fundamentals from his father. Lets see Roger take an ordinary fighter and turn him into a champion.Comment

As he said in his ever-so-eloquent way, Roger is right about not having to be a really good fighter to be a real good trainer. Most of the best trainers weren't great fighters. One belief is that most great athletes don't have the patience to be great trainers/coaches. They don't understand why others don't have the same abilities or desire that they did.
Not that Roger was a great fighter (he was very good though), and I have to see him do more before I really think much of him as a top notch trainer.
I just look at him right now like a Kevin Rooney. The RIGHT trainer for an extremely talented fighter, but it's not like he's shown much else in terms of being an elite trainer.Comment
