    Do you agree?

someone asked me who I think would win RIGHT NOW between Tarver and a old shot Mike Tyson...

    I responded...

he is not that quick, he throws his punches a little sloppy, can be off balance, his best punch is a "strong" straight left, not a "killer" straight left, he usually flurries his punches, already gets pretty winded late in fights, goes into a put your hands up defense mode when his opponent is attacking and he doesn't really fight well out of close encounters from the inside, he doesn't move well enough to stay away from even a very shot and old Tyson, Tyson has been hit by much harder punchers, etc etc....I just don't see any advantage Tarver has other than he is the fresher of the two..

Do any of you agree? I just cannot see Tarver being effective at HW no matter how bad Tyson is...

*this is NOT a "Tyson can become HW champion of the world again" post...I don't have much faith in Tyson against a good HW anymore...but Tarver is just an average LHW...

    Tarver is a top 10 P4P

I don't think Tyson stands a chance against anyone in the top...
Come on.. he fought McBride, the bum who was ranked by Boxrec what like 84? I pretty sure he wasn't even on the first top 50 page and we all know what happened.

Give it up, Tyson is DONE!

My honest opinion is that Tarver will knockout the old Tyson.

Mike needs to stay retired, no-one wants to see him lose again.

lol, Tyson is so so shot...it is just hard for me thinking of Tarver vs Jones, Johnson, and Harding...then imagining him beating Tyson...

but then again McBride was just horrible and Tyson couldn't even handle him

I think that Tarver is one of the most overrated fighters in the sport today. But saying that I feel that Mike just doesn't have anything left.

This is the ONLY fight out there for Tyson if he wants to make Money and ever have a shot at any glory. Don't get me wrong Tarver would win this, but its the only shot Tyson has.

He could beat Tarver then fight a Byrd or a Rahman and maybe get a paper title then retire and everyone would say how great he is. But this is a big PPV not like Williamson or McBride the sports world knows Tarver and would buy it.

Yes, well if you take a look at the Mcbride fight, the guy didn't even want to be in there. His aggression is almost gone and the intimidation factor is gone too.

The way I see it is that Tarver is underrated and I think he could have some success at HW against the smaller guys. He fought on even though he broke his jaw against Harding. And he'll be a lot stronger without having to take off all that weight.

Of course, Mike always has a chance early on but I don't think it's worth it. Tarvers' ego is big enough already.
