To be perfectly honest and fair, many of the "excuses" Arum is being accused of giving actually make logical sense. This fight should take place in a larger arena. The fighters should have guarantees. And the fight does need an over-the top promotional bonanza. Problem is, Arum turned this whole thing into who"s scared of who long time ago and its coming back to bit him in the butt now. Instead of legitimately trying to make the fight over the last couple years. He and the rest of Team Pacquaio has invested a lot more energy into convincing the world that Mayweather is scared of Pac. Now, its become more about who wins the PR war moreso who can win a boxing match. And in the PR arena, Pac's credibility as the Mayweather killer took a huge hit in his struggles with JMM. It made those who thought he was Mayweather's worst nightmare step back and take a legitimate look at this fight. And they realize what actual fight people have known all along. And that is Pac is up against it matched with Money. Arum and crew know it too. Thus, the stalling and continued attempts to fool the public. Problem is, very few are buying it now. He basically used Mayweather to build Pac into a megastar. Now, its time to pay the piper. Because truth is, much of ******* Nation is a lot more Mayweather haters than Pac fanatics. And if Pac loses the Mayweather haters, he's gonna be back to selling 400K-500K PPVs.
As offers go out to Matthew Hatton and Morales we know why he doesn't want Cotto still. I just hope Pacquiao calls his bluff again. Been there, done that.
Did I miss something? Did Bob Arum sign Matthew Hatton and Morales so that he can have more no hopers for Pac to fight? That must be the case since that would coincide with Pacquaio's fight pattern. He sandwiched five no hopers between two competitive fights with Marquez. Now that he has fought Marquez, he will sandwich another five no hopers like Cotto II, Brandon Rios, Mike Davis, Bradley, and Margarito II before he fights another quality opponent again. So Hatton and Morales would fit perfectly in that equation. Who knows? Arum may even try to draw Ricky Hatton out of retirement so that he can bring another 10,000 fans from England to a a rematch against Pac and make it seem like Pac's fans haven't abandoned him for blatantly ducking a Mayweather fight.
During a media interview with BoxingScene.com and a select group of writers, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. shot down the three rumored options for May 5th - WBA junior welterweight champion Miguel Cotto, WBC junior welterweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and former champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero. Mayweather is scheduled to fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, on May 5th, and he made it clear that WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is the only opponent on his mind.
So, what do you have to whine about now, pacfans ?
You all had your little whine about Guerrero, and it turns out Mayweather dont even know who he is.
You all had your little whine about Canelo, and funnily enough, it turns out that Mayweather actually understands a little bit about boxing and he can see that Canelo needs more time.
Suck it up kids, this is how a real fighter should behave.
*** me, is Mayweather going to fight Martinez ?
Surely not ?
Maybe I'm being a bit silly there, I just can't think of anyone else ?
Guerrero and Canelo are the type of opponents that Manny would select, as will become evident when he selects Peterson next week, the very worst of his 5 options.
Mayweather and Pacquiao have very little in common.
the man has his guarantee...another excuse shot down .....somebody go get Manny outta that Bin Laden cave and tell him to get his ass in camp...and tell Frauddy to stop shakin and start baking....time to make some doe!!!
As offers go out to Matthew Hatton and Morales we know why he doesn't want Cotto still. I just hope Pacquiao calls his bluff again. Been there, done that.
Here we go, I found one of Manny's little flag-wavers.....
