Obviously if Peterson felt confident of beating Khan in the rematch it would have already been signed, but he doesn't.

Who can blame him really, got lucky with the hometown ref/decision, and now want to make the most of it before it comes to an end.

I doubt Peterson lacks confidence in beating Khan, especially since if they fight again Peterson will pick up where he left off instead of needing 3-4 rounds to adjust to Khan's running and pot shotting style.

Peterson's only hesitation is probably in going through negotiations with Khan and his cheapskate crew for a 3rd time.

Khan lowballed Peterson twice and Peterson only got paid because of his mandatory status and ability to force the purse bid. Khan basically treated him like dirt, like he should be lucky to have a chance to kiss the King's feet.

Now Khan's team is offering the Champ 50-50 and acting like it is a huge concession.

Please. Peterson should tell Khan "60-40 for me on everything including UK revenue you cheap ****ing rat bastard." Give him a taste of his own medicine.

This is why you have to be careful about lowballing and disrespecting opponents the way Khan does with every single offer he makes. When the tables are turned how can he expect to get treated better than he treats others?

Khan treated him like dirt by offering him his highest ever purse?

Then going to his hometown to fight him?

      You're a relentless ****.

Hitman said Peterson had to go to purse bids like Maidana did to get his biggest payday. If that is the case it was not an offer from Khan.

The first offer from Khan to fight in the UK was his biggest payday yet. More than he made fighting Bradley.

That is correct $300,000 I believe far more than he ever got for a fight up to that point. Team Khan slandered him as being greedy for turning the fight down. However they omitted Peterson's main gripe with the offer. That the rematch stipulated that he got the same amount SHOULD he win and there is NO WAY Peterson had a chance of winning if it went to points in the UK. So Peterson fought on to earm mandatory status and if Hitman is correct then forced the issue to go to purse bids and earn $650,000 . $50,000 more than he was offered by Team Khan for 2 fights when in reality other than getting a KO it was realistically only a one fight deal and $300,000
It looks to me that the numbers say Peterson made the right decision. On that basis he may well be right turning down Khan's 50 50 offer. Why not wait and see what the money is like for fights with Manny,Bradley or Marques is like? Right now Khan is going no where,he can wait a bit see if he can overturn the rematch ordered by the WBA and maybe negotiate from an even stronger position. Only today Khan said he would never fight for the IBF title again so maybe the rematch could be for the WBA keeping the IBF one safe,. A strange situation and one that makes a total farce of the governing bodies but it is clear Peterson's policy of sitting on the offer right now is a good one.

Khan cheap? That why Peterson made around 400k for the fight with Khan and about 20k in the fight before.

Peterson can make around 1.4-1.8m in the rematch, the money should not be the issue.

Peterson can only get a bigger pay day against Pacquiao, or Mayweather, so unless those fights come through he has no excuses not to take the Khan fight, unless he doubts himself in the rematch.

I didnt say he didnt make the right decision. But Khan did offer him his highest purse when he was not the mandatory challenger. So I dont see how Khan "treated him like dirt".

Hes now offering him a 50/50 split. Having already fought him in his hometown and been on the end of a bad decision.

That is a very simplistic way of looking at things. Right now Khan is going nowhere. Peterson could slip in an easy defence and earn some easy money then fight Khan or hold out to see what materialises out of Manny, Bradley or Marques. He loses all those fights but might get bigger money.

Fights Khan, and beats him, his status goes up even further and command even more money in other big name fights.

Peterson wants some easy defences, and milk the title a little while and hope he wins the Manny/Floyd sweepstakes.

                      .
The shoddy treatment of Peterson by Team Khan in the intial offer centres on how the media was used to slander Paterson for refusing the deal . Team Khan harped on about how generous they were in offering him his biggest pay day but failed to tell the press that the real reason Peterson turned it down. Which was the onerous rematch clause fixing his purse to $300,000. That is deceptive behaviour and not honest with the intention of making him look the villain while making Team Khan look all goody goody. It is hypocricy whatever way you cut it.
Team Khan need to clean up this kind of behaviour and it is why people don't like or trust them. You would never get this kind of thing coming out of Andre Ward that is why he is liked trusted and respected.
