Sergio Martinez said he offered to fight JCC JR. But how is he going to offer to fight JCC JR when JCC JR is the one that does the offering?

      And he ain't no Junior.

Fighters hide behind their promoters. The promoters tell them who the best opponent is from a financial view and risk wise. The fighter goes along with the "best" pick and says it's their promoters choice, which it is, but the fighter agrees to it.

He can fight Martinez if he wanted to, he can ask Arum to make the fight. Arum says no, this guy is a better pick, Chavez Jr obliges.

That's how I see it, but don't take my word for it.

you've never invested in anything, have you?

          arum invests in fighters
          heavily

they probably dont make him any money for years in many cases

his job is to protect them as best he can until they are in a position make him some money

would you really let chavez lose to martinez now to please a few short sighted boxing fans if you were arum?

there go the paydays down the road
and up goes the stock of a fighter you don't control, at your expense.

          crikey, guys
you just dont get it, do you?

Realistically, it doesn't make sense for Top Rank to throw Chavez Jr at Martinez. I mean, it's almost a foregone conclusion that Martinez is going to win, so Arum loses on his little 200k PPVs sells he does with Chavez. I mean, Martinez knocks out Chavez, then what? Bob Arum doesn't get any profit from a Martinez win. That's why he rather have Cotto and Chavez battle it out, keep it in-house. I think the only other big fight Arum would make outside of his stable is Chavez-Canelo, because honestly Chavez isn't that good and he's gonna have to let him sink or swim in a big fight. Martinez has himself to blame for sticking with Dibella, had he joined Top Rank he'd have Cotto and Chavez this year.

I know I'm a little off topic, but to answer the question if it wasn't obvious; Top Rank.

If you're a WBC WORLD CHAMPION you have to face MANDATORY opponents.

Otherwise you can beat bums, and be the champion of the underground boxing federation

Does that include skipping mandatories and ignoring organization orders? And never being stripped, while other fighters of other companies get stripped for much less?

If so, that's more like corruption, rather than good business.

He's fighting his mandatory in Rubio as far as I'm concerned. How did Rubio lose his mandatory is beyond me. But, then again we're talking about the We Be Crooks here.

I don't want to see Martinez-JCC Jr, not right now anyways. But, that might change depending on how JCC Jr beats Rubio. I rather see JCC Jr fight the likes of Lee, Geale, or Quillin next rather than Martinez TBH.

However, facing Margarito or Mundine is a joke. So if that's the opponents he will be facing then I agree make the Martinez fight.

Chavez shouldn't fight Martinez right now for purely business reasons. Martinez really brings nothing to the table financially. Why should Chavez take a beating and mess up his future earning potential?
