Comments Thread For: Rubio Admits Money Was Left on The Table in Chavez Deal

Middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5, 46KOs) explained that his agreed-upon purse for the bout with WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs) is not the best of his career. Rubio has been trying to get Chavez in the ring for a very long time and the money was secondary in the deal. He says the sacrifice of money will pay off in the long run. The important thing is beating Chavez on February 4th in San Antonio, Texas.

Yeah, I don't get why people think fighting Chavez is an automatic pay day. He's a cheapskate. Manfredo only got paid $100k for his fight against Chavez.

            This is interesting.

Rubio is not cashing out for one last payday... but rather he is taking a step backwards (paycut) in order to give two step forwards (thinking of bigger paydays after beating JCCJR).

This is a fights.... i'm convinced Rubio thinks we can take JR and expose him. After all, Rubio earn his reputation in the ring... not the day we has born to a famous father. For Rubio, a silverspoon kid like JR that has had a great deal handed to him must kindle all kind of motivations in the gym.

It will be fun to watch!

I wonder what Chavez Jr is making per fight!! I dont think he makes a million yet, and if he does he is being over-payed!!
