Where I tend to disagree with is when you talk about how comfortable Hopkins would be with brawling.

At one time Nard was as good as thee was at "junkyard doggin" it but he has not been that type of fighter in a long long time.

The last time I remember Hopkins be a rough and tough mix it up type of fighter was against Keith Holmes...

He doesnt mix it up anymore because I believe he knows his body and in order for him to fight at an elite level he has to make sure that gas tank is always full.

I think he should have been able to stop Taylor in rounds 10 thru 12...why couldnt he? Even though he was coming on the aging Hopkins did not have a full gas tank...why not...he didnt even start fighting for 6 rounds?

If he starts fast he will 1) leave himself open as you say, but 2) and most imporatantly he will have a lot less for Taylor down the stretch, and if Nard struggles AT ALL down the stretch it will not look good in the judges eyes.

In my mind Nard inst comfortable or familiar with brawling any more...if he was we would have seen it by now...the old man knows his body.
Good counter-points. I agree with the feeling that he knows himself and looked to be a bit taxed in the first fight after his great efforts in the 11th. I was screaming, "C'MON YOU ROCKED HIM JUMP ALL OVER HIM", but Hop just elected to watch the final 20 seconds tick off.

By "he needs to push the pace early" I meant that he should start increasing his pressure slowly but surely, starting in around the 5th or 6th. Hopkins cannot afford to watch Taylor win 6 or 7 of the first 8 again (I gave Taylor 6 of the first 8).

I can see you are a Hopkins hater and would love to bet you every last point I have on B-hop (see my thread in fantasy betting, 2nd page I believe). I expect you to man up and take the bet. If you do, good luck to you.

      Great pics.
First off read the posts before you try to talk smack. You will look MUCH smarter next time.

The point of my whole post (which you obviously missed) was that Jermaine Taylor did in fact show a lot of respect to Hopkins before the fight contrary to what the other poster said. Hopkins is the one who showed no respect and then lost the fight. I could not care less whether you think Hopkins won the fight or not...that was not the point of the post. Read slower next time son.

If you want to bet fine...I have no idea how to bet "points" but I am down for whatever.

        I read the entire post.

The point of your whole post? you finished your post by saying, "Then Jermaine walked in to the ring and beat Bernard's ass. What is it with you Hopkins fans? You cry more than anyone I have ever seen!"

First off, the ass beating part is patently false. Second, you ask what it is with Hopkins fans, presumably responding to the post above your original, no? Where is the crying? What are you referring to? I completely agree with you on the lack of respect with the first fight, by the way. Just curious as to the crying that was going on before.

Jermain has commented on how much he learned in his fight with Bernard, he should be concerned on how much the Executioner learned about his weaknesses.

Bernard has made career of implementing the corrections he makes in rematches. Bernard now knows what he has to do to take it out of the hands of the judges. He has excelled going in with a fighter he’s been in with before…he is undefeated in rematches. Of course he is, before this latest injustice, Bernard was undefeated in over twelve years. This rematch will be no different. I picked Bernard Hopkins in the first fight, I feel just as confident the second time around. In the rematch…Bernard will again put his greatness on display.

I see the fight being the exact same as the first except Bernard being a bit busier during the 1st half of the fight, and then knocking Taylor out late in the fight.

If you think that Bernard simply needs to push the pace and be agressive, You are clearly just wrong. Bernard is 40 years old, He CANNOT push the pace against a young gun like Taylor. He knows this and all this "executioner" talk, is just what it is...talk.

Bernard has the best defense in the game and he is going to yet again make Jermain miss alot of punches.

In the last fight, Bernard lost in the jab department 17 to 36, in power punches, a statistic that usually wins it for a fighter, Bernard outlanded Jermain by a huge 28 punches 78 to 50.

This is going to be a mirror fight except the only thing that will be different is Bernard will knock Taylor out.

Bernard is to experienced, cagy, and savvy for Taylor. If the fight is again a robbery in favour of Taylor HBO has officially ruined the career of a great, great fighter. This would be a travesty if Hopkins got robbed once again.

I think the difference in this fight will be Hopkins going to the body more than he did in the 1st fight. The body work was nonexistent & I think he'll eventually wear Taylor down over the course of the fight & stop him. & like what was said in another post, Hopkins will exploit more of the holes in Taylor's game & dominate him.
