One category that has gone missing from all of these award nominations was for PPV card of the year. My vote goes to the Morales-Hernandez slugfest, which had a KO-of-the-year candidate for the co-feature (R. Marquez' brutal uppercut KO). This was the best card top-to-bottom all year, but here are my top 3 of all-time:
1. Lewis-Golota, October 97: The main event was a 95 second demolition, but Gatti-Ruelas was a classic. Plus we got to see Fernando Vargas and Jesus Chavez before they were world champs.
2. C. Gonzalez-Sorjaturong, July 95: maybe not the high-profile showdown, but this was definitely a FOTY candidate in '95, plus we had Too Sharp, Barrera, and Lonnie Bradley produce KO victories on the undercard. Best card that the GW Forum ever had.
3. Tyson-Holyfield 1, November 96: 3 heavyweight title fights in one night, tough to beat this one!
