Imagine Floyd without his speed, Now Imagine Manny without his!

I'm getting the feeling like many of you that team Pac are pushing this fight back because they feel like fighting Floyd at a later date is more advantageous to themselves. They feel that it will give Mayweather time to age and weaken and that it will be easier to beat him if that happens. What they aren't considering is that it will also give Pacquiao time to age and allow Pac to go through more wear and tear in each fight.

People act as if Pacquiao can not lose his speed or his power but they fail to realize Pac is at an age where things like speed and power tend to fade. He also seems to be taking more and more punishment in his fights which may show up if he ever decides to fight Mayweather.

We also have to consider styles. Floyd has a style much like Juan Manuel Marquez or Bernard Hopkins which utilizes mental strengths more than physical attributes. He has a style that would allow him to compete well into his late 30s/early 40s. Pacquiao has a style that relies almost completely on handspeed and reflexes like Ali or Roy Jones. If he loses these attributes he's completely screwed if he decides to continue fighting. Bad move by Pac's team to hold up this fight.

Outstanding topic. This is definetely worthy of it's own thread. No need to post in the stickied masterthread.

I see what you did there but I'm just giving reasons why team Pac's decision to duck this fight now is a poor decision. Besides no one goes to the master thread after a few posts.

In 2009 and early 2010 it was pretty much a 50/50 fight IMO, I even gave the nod to Manny.

At this stage, I'm pretty sure Floyd would win a decision and it's only going to get worse IMO. The longer it takes for the fight to happen, the more it will favor Floyd. I still doubt it'll happen though.

Thanks for seeing what I was trying to get at. I'm just criticizing the reasoning Pac's team is using.

When did Cotto say he can't make 147lb anymore? As far as I remember he's always been a small welterweight, and he's definitely a small jr middleweight.
