What we need most at this moment is the rematch with Antonio Demarco, I know that they are not going to want it but, let’s see what happens. The truth is we have to recuperate the time lost, the vacation is over, Christmas is over, the New Year is here and I have to continue to work hard. I believe this year will be very important for me and one of my better moments.”
I also asked Linares if he has spoken to his promoter (Golden boy) in regards to his fight with Demarco…
“Yes we have spoken, they are focused, this week they will let tell me what we are going to do, whether that is a tune-up fight or going directly with Antonio Demarco or going for another title. There have been many things offered to me, but in reality in my heart I want the rematch with Antonio Demarco because that’s what the people are looking for and want.”
As Linares mentioned he does a couple of other potential matchups at lightweight like England’s Kevin Mitchell, Brandon “Bam Bam “Rios (if he decides to stay at 135 lbs.)Among others, but I tend to agree with Linares as I would like to see that rematch with Demarco as well.
