Let me guess, someone asked him about the fight during his own press conference?

yea, he's the lineal champ for a reason, cuz no one in his weight class wants to even mess with him. dude is dangerous and even more so now that he has found some additional power.

there's nothing to gain for him to move up and fight bute or ward. in that weight class fighting abraham or froch means nothing since ward and bute are around. fighting bute does nothing cuz even canadians (i live in canada) dont know who he is. fighting ward (and if he wins) will give him recognition from boxing fans but aside from that, no one knows who ward is either. consider how good ward is and how impossible it might be to beat him, would anyone move up in weight to fight a fight that dangerous for no money and no recognition? that being said though, he did seem to have said he'll take ward on if they can meet at an agreeable weight so you gotta give him that cuz who else is willing to fight ward?

so with that in mind, would anyone of us do any different? between fighting bute or ward for no money and no recognition or fighting pacquiao or mayweather and making tons of money and gaining tons of recognition with a good performance, which would you choose? look at JMM, putting in the performances that he did so much for his career. the 3rd fight alone he made 6 million and that fight might lead to another fight and another payday.

people need to stop bringing up pirog too, no one will watch that fight. you need to realize that martinez is not young anymore, he knows he might only have at most, a few more years of fighting left considering his style of fighting; his speed is going to drop as he ages. so he has no choice but to go for big paydays IF he can. fighting someone like pirog will do nothing for his career, not that fighting barker or macklin would do much but thats how things shook out.

Ya, reality rarely is funny. I sure as hell hope he wouldnt duck dudes who were naturally divisions lighter than him. Why doesnt he step up and face ward?

when they stopped asking him questions about it, he stopped talking about it. plain and simple.
so stop making it seem like he's whining when all he was doing was answering questions that he was being asked. if he hadn't everyone would call him an ass, if he does you say he's whining. can't win with you guys can he?

also, watch the interview, he showed nothing but respect for his opponent. sergio is pure class. he gets a bad rep cuz of fighting with his hands down and does roy jones type stuff, but he's not trying to disrespect his opponent, he's trying to get him to attack so he can counter. roy jones did that stuff and everyone loved it. when sergio does it he's an ass.

          friggin ridiculous.

good post, haters are gonna hate because Sergio is threat to their guys. *******s hate anybody who isn't Pacquiao and Mayweather fans hate on Sergio because he's probably the only guy out there who has a chance to beat him.

hater hate because they feel threaten. it's not like they use logic or reason.

people act like Sergio is huge, he rehydrated to 165 against Barker.
Mayweather might be fighting Canelo, Canelo weight 170 against Cintron.
hell even Ortiz rehydrated to 164 against Mayweather.

Martinez isn't too big, he's just too good, so the haters gotta make an excuse

and i believe martinez responded over twitter and said he would fight ward if they can find a common ground weight. i dont think it would be reasonable for him to fight ward at ward's weight class when he's never fought at that weight before and is already undersized as it is.

Martinez wants two fighters in welterweight to move up to fight him, cuz of course he wants a huge payday, but why doesnt he should shut up, stop challenging smaller fighters and move up a class, there are now plenty of fighters to face moving up 8 pounds... which people would pay to watch

It is absurd that Martinez can still make 154, and yet some folks insist that he should be fighting at 168. Hell, the guy is clearly already punching above his weight at MW, and even recently stated that he can make 150.

People who cannot justify why Manny would not fight a JMW for his JMW title, should not be suggesting that a guy who can make 150 should be fighting at 168.
Dude, Manny would be at a larger size disadvantage against Sergio than Sergio would against Ward. When will this sink in with you?

Yes, I know Manny has done it before, doesn't mean he's obliged to do it again, he gave up the belt before Sergio koed PWill. Did RJJ duck Lewis? Sergio does not have to fight Ward either, esp if he can make bank elsewhere.

Or does it offend you that Manny fought for Sergio's "regular" title, the one he defended zero times after being promoted? Having won the interim one against Bunema two fights earlier.

Ah ok. I am not into tweeter so didn't know Sergio responded.

Martinez has called out Pac who is undersize for jr. mw. Yes, Pac won at a cw of 150 but he didn't even went past 147 during the official weigh in. Then its ok for Martinez not to fight at super mw.
