Mayweather potential fights that didn't happen back in 2006/2007......

Do you guys think Cotto could have beaten Mayweather in 2007? I remember that fight was what everyone wanted back then, like Mayweather v Pac now. Cotto was looking impressive and beating good fighters, seemed to be getting better after every fight. Mayweather didn't fight him because he said he didn't have a big enough fan base and semi-retired for about 18 months or something after the Hatton fight. Cotto IMO looked awesome at the beginning of the Margarito fight but Margaritos loaded gloves caught upto to him and got him the fight.

How do you see that fight playing out if it happened back in 2007/2008? (pre Marg Cotto)

Also Mayweather was also accused of ducking Margarito back in 2006, when Margarito was the most feared man in boxing. Margarito was beating everyone and looking very strong, what do you guys think would have happened back then?

Still always believe that Floyd beats them.

A lot people don't remember that back from late 2005-early 2007, Floyd had been calling Cotto out. But, Top Rank replied with "Cotto isn't ready for Floyd". It was really only after Floyd announced that he was done after the Hatton fight that Arum and Cotto starting to claim that he was ducking.

Do I think it's a coincidence that the 2 people Floyd haters accuse him of ducking were Top Rank fighters, right after Floyd left Top Rank, I am not sure.

If Floyd fights Cotto now, he still gets credit for it, if it's at 154 lbs. Yes, Manny gets more credit for doing it first, but Floyd still gets his due. It's the same thing with Hatton, only vice-versa. Yes, Floyd gets more credit for beating Hatton first, but Manny still gets his due for that win.

Cotto is past his prime-still good, same as he was in 2009. He's basically the same guy. I have ALWAYS said this, so I am not some Manny hater that's trying to justify this now. At 154 lbs, Cotto is a legit fight.

Floyd-Cotto in 2008 would have been kind of like Floyd-Oscar.

Cotto would have won some early rounds with his jab and on aggression....then Floyd would get his sense of distance and timing, and counter over Cotto's jab with his right hand. The jab would disappear and Floyd would cruise.

Like a somewhat competitive but clear 8-4/9-3 type decision for Floyd.

Margarito wasn't beating shit except for bum azz Cintron, who was always shit from the very beginning.

Margarito is one of the biggest hypejobs of the modern era.

I was gonna say something like this.

Just who is "everyone" that Margarito was beating?

The 2007 me thought Cotto would beat Mayweather - Mayweather would Beat Margarito - Margarito would beat Cotto. I thought Oscar beat Mayweather. I also thought the Ricky Hatton fight vs Mayweather would be Mayweathers toughest challenge. I was saddened when Oscar vs Floyd II didn't happen, especially with SR training Oscar. I thought the Talk of Delahoya vs Pacman was ridiculous, and that Oscar would destroy him in a freak show.
