Floyd Will Relinquish All of the PR Leverage he's Gained Over the Past Few Months...

    If he fights Robert Guerrero.

Public Perception has done a total 180 and everyone has their fingers pointed at Top Rank and Manny. Floyd has all of the power, all of the leverage.

If he fought Robert Guerrero he would give all of that back. It would be a slap in the face to the sport and all his fans and I think it would be crippling to the sport.

Now, the guy who people are looking at as actually wanting the mega fight(Floyd) would now be fighting some guy most people have never heard of....and someone who even boxing fans don't view as anything close to a potential threat.

This is Floyd's opportunity to separate himself....take a legitimate fight and put even MORE pressure on Manny/Arum....even if that doesn't work you just strengthen your grip on the public perception and that in turn will enhance his legacy when people look back on this era.

I agree. IMHO there is only 1 fight that equals to Pacman. That's Martinez. Anyone else is significantly lower.

It doesn't even have to equal Pacman, but it has to be more credible than this.

If Arum does not want Manny to fight Floyd who do you think Floyd should fight?

I can dig it, but fighting Martinez is statement making. I guess a Cotto at 154 is good too, 2 time jr middleweight champ if Floyd wins. But Martinez is still boss superior to that. That's like skipping small fries & going after the big game.

Interesting how Martinez does not want to fight bigger guys yet he wants smaller guys to fight him.

Same thing with you guys, you don't want Floyd to fight Guererro because he's small yet you want Martinez to fight Floyd a small guy.

i'm not looking forward to that fight. seriously guerrero is no threat at all, the fight is a mismatch worse than gatti or marquez.... but at least these guys were recognizable names.
i don't think it will happen anyway.

Just like how he fought Paul Spadafora and Mathew Hatton...what was Floyd thinking?

I thought he was in the sport to make some money at the very least.

Listen, I'm tired of Martinez, but the fact remains that Floyd was a jr middleweight champ. Martinez would meet him there.

What you fail to mention is those fighters at 168 were never at 160, exept for Abraham & Taylor. But when people talk about Martinez at 168, 1st name is Ward. The best fighter there. That's not comparable to Martinez Floyd at 154. Both were champs there. Martinez has never fought at supermiddleweight.

Martinez was a WW, he should fight Floyd or Manny at WW. See how that can go.

Martinez should make a name for himself instead of trying to cut the watby fighting Floyd and Manny
