Comments Thread For: Lara Willing To Drop Down For Berto vs Ortiz Winner

The Boxing Lab welcomed junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara to the most recent edition of BoxingScene.com's official audio show. Lara has been inactive since losing a highly controversial decision to Paul Williams this past July. After striking out in attempts to land a big fight, Lara is scheduled to return on February 11th against Ronald Hearns on the Victor Ortiz-Andre Berto undercard. Both of those fights along with Gary Russell Jr. versus an opponent to be determined will be televised by Showtime.

          Indeed

I just don't see Haymon negotiating a Berto-Lara match, but if Ortiz is the victor (no pun intended), I'd love to see it.

Everyone in the 154 division should be ashamed. It's ridiculous that he has to move to middleweight or welterweight to find a fight.

not gonna happen. As in, no one will fight this guy. He's a damn solid fighter.

it could very well happen after macklin the way things are going. no cotto, no chavez for martinez and both lara and martinez will probably be on showtime this year. my favorite 154 lber vs my favorite 160 lber, what a fight

i would kind of want lara to have one fight at 160 before though, just to show he can make the weight and still be as good. after all, he did have a tough fight with molina.

Boxing is a business, of course fighters like Lara who aren't big draws are willing to get in the ring with whoever. They don't have a choice.
