Comments Thread For: Lorenzo Jabs Barker, Murray, Quillin: Targets Andy Lee

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Three-time world title challenger Giovanni “EL Chico Malo” Lorenzo has read the reports of so-called contenders turning down the opportunity to face Ireland’s middleweight contender Andy Lee at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, March 17th and is chomping at the bit to get in the ring with that country’s favorite son on St. Patrick’s Day.

Lorenzo complains about being robbed a lot (even if he wasn't), but apparently he was indeed robbed against Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam from the reports I've read. I haven't seen the fight though.

Quillen got ****** in by Lorenzo

IMO, Lorenzo was never in the Lee fight, he was just a prop to get Quillen off the fence and take the Andy Lee fight for cheap money, and it worked like a charm. Quillen is not as smart he thinks he fell for it hook line a sinker and now he is working for slave wages, if he held out he would have gotten 2-3x as much because he was the only one really there, LMAO

You definitely are a Lorenzo sack hugger. Quillin's team hasn't accepted or turned down anything. If the money is right, The Kid Chocolate already told Andy face to face a few weeks ago he's ready to fight.

          As I stated before:
It's funny how Peter Quillin made light work of Craig McEwan while most commentators said Craig fought well. I'm not a "Triangle Theorist" but if I were:

Hopkins beats Echols and says he's 1 of the toughest opponents he's ever faced.
Quillin beats Echols despite being the underdog predicted to being KO'd.

Lucian Bute KO's "The Contender's" Jesse Brinkley in 9 rounds.
Peter Quillin TKO's Brinkley in 3. Jesse is heard after round 1, "He has power!"

Quillin TKO's Troy Lowry in 2.
Andy Lee TKO's Lowry in the 4th round 3 years after.

Andy Lee wins Dennis Sharpe by decision going the distance in a 6 rounder.
          Quillin TKO's Sharpe in 4.

Andy Lee TKO's McEwan in the 10th & final round just moments before losing by UD.
Quillin TKO's McEwan in 6 also on HBO.

Andy Lee is the #1 ranked Irishman out of 6 Middleweights.
Peter Quillin is the #1 ranked American out of 211 Middleweights.

Lee is 27-1, 19 KO's. 68% KO rating in 154 rounds. 8 fights in Europe vs who knows?
          Quillin is 26-0, 20 KO's. 77% KO rating in only 97 rounds.

Quillin looks like the better fighter, has fought the better fights and yet is ranked #8 in the world 3 spots below Lee. HUH? I say Andy stops talking, forget about all the triangle theories and see who really is the better Middleweight.

My money is on The Kid Chocolate. Unlike Lee, no one has been able to beat him, not even on Twitter. Sergio Martinez lost that bout before deciding to fight Barker. LOL

Andy - tell Lou DiBumma to make it a 50-50 purse and watch how you run out of the luck of the Irish on St. Paddy's day. I remember the last time Petey fought at MSG on St. Paddy's - all you heard were a bunch of Irish saying, "He's a Quillin; must be black Irish?" LOL

That's complete and utter bull****. Qullin fought Echols almost 10 years after Hopkins did way past his prime. Quillin was the underdog? Echols was clearly there to be fed to the younger guy as a showcase fight.

I hope you didn't hurt yourself or your keyboard typing that comment. It was Quillin's 18th fight and he was the underdog. Look it up you complete & utter idiot. It was a charity event that was aired on ESPN.

I referred and compared many fights, why did you stop there? I don't rewrite history. After Hopkins was robbed vs Pascal 1, he said that Echols was still a better opponent than Jean. So if you'd like, call Hopkins on this one and complain to him.

Hey, I think Quillin's been looking very good since his layoff. I'd seen him on FNF before against Miranda, and wasn't impressed. But I'd be real surprised if he was the underdog to Echols. Where can I find the odds? Fightwriter had Quillin at -400.

, i think hopkins meant that his fight with echols (years ago) was a tougher challenge than the pascal fight, not that echols is currently a better opponent than pascal. don't be silly man, instead of telling that other poster that he's a lorenzo 'sack hugger', maybe you should take a look at yourself, cause you're looking like a kid chocolate 'sack hugger' right about now bro.
kid chocolate is dope, but not everyone is going to like him. don't need to get angry over every one who disagrees with you as well.

Check out this thread before the Echols fight.

In a quick scan, I could only find one person who thought Echols had a chance. The same consciousness is seen in the east side boxing forum. Echols didn't have a win in over 3 years when he fought Quillin. How could anyone possibly think he was the favorite? What exactly are you basing your underdog theory on?

He said that Echols was still a better opponent than Jean. So if you'd like, call Hopkins on this one and complain to him.

Because that's the only thing I wanted to quibble over. Nothing against Quillin. He may very well be better than Andy Lee and I would like to see them fight. But your description of the Echols fight was still ridiculous.
