Funny how the "defenders of cheato" are very big on proof and are always talking about the Cotto knee.

It's a high compliment what Lamon Brewster said, but to put Cotto in the same league as Hagler is wrong. I'm sure a lot of people KNOW Hagler, but when you see his stats and the things he did, you would never say what Brewster said.

Marvin Hagler was LORD of the middleweight division. A chiseled warrior that looked like he had been transported from the Roman age into the 80's. He was a tough, strong, supremely-conditioned warrior who was ALWAYS in a fight.

He ****** with Hearns for 3 rounds of CRAZY action, beat Durán by decision, and made Leonard dig deep for that iffy decision.

But more than that, Hagler made MANY title defenses, though I don't know exactly how many.

Miguel Cotto has fought a lot of dangerous opposition and eventual champions and a lot of undefeated fighters. He has also avenged one of his two losses (Margarito), the other loss being to all-time great Manny Pacquiao.

But let's be honest, the titles Cotto won were all vacant, and he hasn't defended belts anywhere NEAR the way Hagler did. I'm not sure what's his longest title defense streak but it's not longer than 5 (at best).

Miguel Cotto is one of the BEST fighters of this generation. A guy who comes to fight, is always competitive, and has fought great opposition. But in terms of achievements and overall characteristics as a FIGHTER, Hagler trumps him.

I'm Puerto Rican AND a huge Cotto fan. I'm not hating, I'm just calling it like I see it.

View it intellectually and you can look at it two ways:

1- First off Hagler was not hit with plaster

2- the comparison made by Lamon was about heart and boxing similarity not based on a cheater that for the most part is not respected in the boxing world.

ex:Thats like someone saying Floyd is like Ali and a dumbass comes in and says"Ali would never hit his wife or two piece a fighter (after a head butt) while the fighter is trying to make up "...duh

i guessing uve never seeon or heard of the john mugabi fight. look it up. hagler was hit with some fierce shots, shots cotto would have never taken plaster or no plaster.
