  • Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez on WBA's Decision, Pacquiao, More

Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6, 39KOs) can't believe the WBA stripped him of his "super champion" status. The organization claims Marquez didn't defend his title in 18 months, but the Mexican fighter states that he paid sanctioning fees to the organization even though he didn't fight at the lightweight limit. And, Marquez defended his title against Michael Katsidis in November 2010, which is less than 18 months ago.

The WBA might aswell strip him now instead of waiting for May when the 18 month period is over because Marquez has no intention of fighting at lightweight in the coming months. I don't understand why he's making such a big deal if he wants to fight at LWW or WW.

I agree with this move. He hasnt fought lw in over a year and when's the last time you heard him talking about a lw fight?

They should give his sanctioning fees back though. You cant collect them shi ts and still void his belt. Theres a ton of good fights at lw, lets move on.

Doesn't really matter it's just a belt at the end of the day. A fighter of Marquez's calibre doesn't need belts to prove their reputation as a top P4P fighter.

I think the decision from the WBA is a tad bit premature, but in likely hood Marquez's lightweight days are pretty much over if he fights at Junior WW,and not to mention it wouldn't mke a difference due to the fact that a fight with Bradley/Pacquiao looming.Someone forgot to remind him this isn't the WBC operating .
