Comments Thread For: Macklin Reunites With McGirt For Sergio Martinez Clash

Matthew Macklin has teamed up with Buddy McGirt ahead of his world middleweight title fight with Sergio Martinez. Macklin leaves for New York later this week and will hook up with his former mentor once he arrives in the USA. The two worked together when Macklin left Billy Graham in 2008 only to part company when Macklin opted to remain in the UK ahead of his fights. 'Mack The Knife' has been training under the stewardship of Joe Gallagher since 2009 and has won British and European honours with the coach as well as pushing Felix Sturm hard for the WBA belt.

Sometimes it seems like fighters go out of their way to throw McGirt in the corner whenever a sure fire beat down is on the way. No question Mcgirt gets underrated as a result of so frequently being associated with the b-sides of "big" fights.

      Wasn't McGirt Dzinziruk's trainer? He's screwed.

Macklin should've stayed in America with McGirt.

This should be easy work for Macklin. If he can't beat a guy like Sergio Martinez, he should retire.

Poor Mcgirt gets a bad name off taking all these jobs. There's nothing he can do with macklin to force a victory.
