Admittedly, I don't know much about Rico outside of his last performance. However, if what I saw was anywhere indicative of his abilities, he's going to have a really tough time against Rigo. I suppose it's fair to say that if someone only saw Rigondeaux versus Cordoba, they might get the wrong impression of Rigo. I'm well aware that you can't necessarily judge a fighter on the strength of one outing. In my case at least, I know Rigo's talent and I'm confident in his superiority over nearly everyone at 122, with the possible exception of Donaire.

Anyway, I'm willing to bet all my points on "El Chacal" against anyone who cares to take my offer.

I agree about Rigo 100% - if he boxes up to his ability, he should pretty soundly outbox Ramos, and maybe even KO him since Ramos can be a bit lazy with his jab, and overall work rate. He beats everyone at 122, and i think he probably beats Donaire, but it will be a very close fight because of donaire's range, and speed. WAR EL CHACAL!

I haven't seen much of Ramos either, save one fight on shobox against alejandro valdez. it's on youtube here, so you can see him against a decent journeyman boxer. he is definitely a skilled boxer, and he's pretty fleet of hand and foot. in this fight, he looked very composed, and calm in the ring; he was very patient with his shots. he was getting touched up a little bit more than you would expect. . . .

      El Chacal is the truth!

Rico is very talented as well, but guillermo is that once every few decades type potential. . .
I don't know much about Rigo, maybe even to my shame. But I do know that he was a tremendous amateur. However he has less than 10 pro fights, I believe? I simply am not overlooking an undefeated champ right now. I wish them both well, but I'm taking the underdog at 2 to 1!!

I thought rico was CLEARLY getting out boxed in his last fight until of course he scored that surprise KO shot. I'm not saying Ramos is a bum, I think he's a good young fighter, I just think he's in over his head this time around. I put big money on rigondeaux so I'm also trying to make myself feel more confident haha.

Thanks for posting that vid, man. It gave me a different look at Ramos. He definitely appeared better against Valdez than against Shimoda. Of course, it's always that way when you face lesser opposition. Nonetheless, it confirmed my initial impression of Rico: he's a decent fighter with solid skills. "Suavecito" may not be on Rigo's level, but he needs to be respected. (Something about him reminds me of Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor....)

I've been looking forward to this fight. After watching the posted footage, I'm convinced that Ramos is aggressive enough to mesh nicely with Rigo's counter-punching style and make for a good bout.

I would say that Guillermo's approach was awful, not that "he did awful." There's a difference. Rigo sent Cordoba to the canvass in the fourth. In the sixth, Rigondeaux's glove touched the canvass (literally). After that, Rigo "pulled a De La Hoya". Figuring that he was up on points, Guillermo got on his bike and sailed to a win on the cards. It was a terrible way to win a fight. But remember, Eaner, that was only Rigo's seventh professional fight. He's allowed a pass, especially after "El Chacal" followed up that soggy performance with a demolition of Willie Casey in Ireland.

We'll see which version of Rigondeaux shows up on Jan 20. If it's the guy we saw against Casey, it's going to be a painful experience for Ramos.

the rigondeaux/cordoba fight was not a great fight for el chacal. . . it was a very awkward fight and style. . . i think he was giving corboda too much respect not being 100% used to professional fights. . . had he been more aggressive the fight would have been a lot easier for el chacal. . .

I'd like to believe all this...in fact, I do believe all this. lol But I think we'll have a much better idea of what Guillermo is capable of versus Ramos. Rico is aggressive enough to play into Rigondeaux's game. If Rigo looks impressive in victory, you might say that his pro career has arrived.

I like Rigo here Ramos was getting tooled in the fight he won and landed the definition of a lucky shot to win and couldn't even explain how it happened in the post fight interview.
