The best & worst of 2011:

Round of the Year - Kirkland vs Angulo, Round 1. (video)

KO of the year - Nonito Donaire TKO2 Montiel (link to video)

Fight of the Year - Akira Yaegashi vs ****sawan Porpramook (video)

Prospect of the year - Gary Russell Jr.

Fighter of the Year - Andre Ward (dominated Carl Froch & Arthur Abraham).
Runner up: Nonito Donaire (KO2 montiel, decision Omar Narvaez)

Trainer of the Year - Robert Garcia (trains Donaire, Brandon Rios, Mikey Garcia)

Most exciting fighter - Brandon Rios (TKO11 John Murray, KO3 Urbano Antillon, TKO10 Miguel Acosta).

Event of the Year - Pacquiao vs Marquez III, Las Vegas, NV ($11,648,300 gate).
Runner up - Floyd vs Ortiz Las Vegas, NV ($9,000,00 gate)

Greatest achievement - Bernard Hopkins beating Jean Pascal to become the oldest champion in the history of boxing (46 years old). (highlights)

Idiot of the Year - Kelly Pavlik (turns down million dollar paydays vs Bute, Kessler, etc., get's DUI).
Runner up: Victor Ortiz for not protecting himself at all times and attempting to hug/kiss Mayweather multiple times after a blatant headbutt which he later admitted was intended to break floyd's nose.

Robbery of the Year - Paul Williams vs Erislandy Lara (all three judges are still suspended after that disaster).
Runner ups: Robert Helenius vs Dereck Chisora, Matthew Macklin vs Felix Sturm.

Worst event letdown - David Haye vs Wladimir Klitschko. After all that talk, all the wait, the biggest heavyweight fight in years and Haye put on an absolute terrible performance (and while Wlad clearly won, he didn't do anything to make anyone excited that's for sure).

Best impersonation of Sloth from the Goonies: Pawel Wolak's hematoma vs Rodriguez. (PICTURE)

Comeback Fighter of the Year - Erik Morales (coming out of a 2½-year retirement and nearly beating Marcos Maidana & setting himself up for big fights in 2012). Runner up: James Kirkland for returning after a 2 year prison stint, getting TKO'd by a no-name and then knocking out Angulo in spectacular fashion.

Biggest waste of a year - Timothy Bradley Jr. After beating Devon Alexander in Jan., Bradley sat the rest of the year out passing on Amir Khan and eventually fighting a horribly shot Joel Casamayor on the Pac-JMM undercard.

Biggest fight that never happened - no surprise, Floyd vs Pac.

Blood Bath of the year - Linares vs Demarco (PICTURE)

Best two consecutive KO's of the year - Adrian Broner vs Litzau & Rodriguez

Beatdown of the year - Gamboa vs Solis (VIDEO)

Worst sucker punch of the year - "Charlie Z" in a sparring session against Floyd Sr. (VIDEO)

Worst ref of the year - Joseph "Throw some Thunder" Cooper (khan vs peterson)

Worst sanctioning body of the year - The WBC. For protecting Chavez jr. and not stripping Floyd of his belt for going to jail because violence against women was not a "major sin or crime."

Best quote of the year - Emmanuel Steward "OH MAH GAWWD!!!!" (VIDEO)

    According to me.

    Add your own.

Do you think Garcia deserves that honor even though one of his fighters was thrashed thoroughly? I'd say that award can be given to Virgil Hunter as well.

well, when you train numerous people someone is likely going to lose in a years period. With that said Donaire, Rios & Garcia all had fantastic years, two of which were runner ups to Fighter of the Year.

I don't get it, why would the WBC strip Floyd of his title?

Because the WBC rules specifically state if one of their champions goes to jail, their title gets stripped. Jose Solilman's excuse for not stripping Floyd was that beating women is not a serious crime

I personally don't care if they do or not, but their corruption is quite clear in this case as again, it's their own rule.

Joe is the worst ref of the year, go watch Mares vs Agbeko 1, Mora has that and it's not even close.
