Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson: I Was an **shole, Unrestrained Piece of S**t

In a very revealing interview on his successful career in the sport of boxing, former heavyweight champion "Iron" Mike Tyson discussed the ups and downs of being one of the most recognizable fighters in the history of boxing. Tyson, 45-years-old, became the youngest heavyweight champion of all time in 1986, when he captured his first world title at the age of 20. He later unified the entire heavyweight division.

People do learn and grow, and what we find reprehensible about a person can be just a stop on their journey of life. It sucks to be someone in a person’s path if they're self destructive but such was the nature of a man that didn't know himself or the first thing about manhood. Even when Mike was at his worst his innate gentleness would come to the surface sometimes, especially when you watched him around his beloved pigeons.

Looking back I got the sense that "Mike Tyson" the beast, “the baddest man on the planet,” and the man with a left hook from hell gave out under the weight of expectations. He had all of the physical gifts to succeed but almost none of the character. Welcome to manhood Mike and thank you for accepting responsibility for your life instead of making excuses for it.

"It is only because of problems that we grow mentally and spiritually."
