In fact thinking about it, in some small events as pro's here such as The York Hall, the ref gives the verdict. I don't watch much amatuer stuff if I am honest and forgot if they use the points system through out.

Also, heres one of the very cool aspects of it..if u were at the 1998 Silver Gloves as a judge for example, u would have seen...Nonito Donaire win the age 14-15 title at 90 pounds by defeating future three time National Golden Gloves champ Rasheim Jefferson...and u would have seen Josh Revis beat Andre Ward at 132, age 14-15...and Julio Perez beat Chad Dawson at 132...

Have any of you on here thought about becoming judges in your home state??? You interested? I can hook u up with contact info wherever u live if u like...let me know. You can do local bouts, regionals, nationals, even international....there is a lot of great opportunities if ur interested and obviously u get to be VERY CLOSE to the fighters and to the game we love so much

Let me know. You dont need special qualificiations, just a love for the game

this is something i've thought about for a while, i really dont have the time right now but in another year or two i will. glen burnie MD has ballroom boxing on the regular and getting into judging that would be nice, they also have fights not too far in salisbury MD. but i dont know much about amateurs!

Man, that's unfortunate but glad to hear he's alright. I don't doubt that he beat a lot of top amateurs... he was very athletic and possessed real talent. Wish fought a little more like Smoke Gainer, though.
