In fact thinking about it, in some small events as pro's here such as The York Hall, the ref gives the verdict. I don't watch much amatuer stuff if I am honest and forgot if they use the points system through out.
IdeaIdea u may not have thought of...or didnt think u could do...

Also, heres one of the very cool aspects of it..if u were at the 1998 Silver Gloves as a judge for example, u would have seen...Nonito Donaire win the age 14-15 title at 90 pounds by defeating future three time National Golden Gloves champ Rasheim Jefferson...and u would have seen Josh Revis beat Andre Ward at 132, age 14-15...and Julio Perez beat Chad Dawson at 132...Comment

Whatever happened to Rashiem Jefferson!? He was the slickster based out of Philly right? Also, heres one of the very cool aspects of it..if u were at the 1998 Silver Gloves as a judge for example, u would have seen...Nonito Donaire win the age 14-15 title at 90 pounds by defeating future three time National Golden Gloves champ Rasheim Jefferson...and u would have seen Josh Revis beat Andre Ward at 132, age 14-15...and Julio Perez beat Chad Dawson at 132...Comment

this is something i've thought about for a while, i really dont have the time right now but in another year or two i will. glen burnie MD has ballroom boxing on the regular and getting into judging that would be nice, they also have fights not too far in salisbury MD. but i dont know much about amateurs! After reading a lot of the back and forths with our recent debate...so many guys on here are such big boxing fans and are really into the game...maybe being a boxer isnt ur thing and getting into the business end of it isnt for most people, myself included, (one of the dirtiest games on earth)...but what about amateur judging?? Have any of you on here thought about becoming judges in your home state??? You interested? I can hook u up with contact info wherever u live if u like...let me know. You can do local bouts, regionals, nationals, even international....there is a lot of great opportunities if ur interested and obviously u get to be VERY CLOSE to the fighters and to the game we love so much
Let me know. You dont need special qualificiations, just a love for the game

Rell actually got stabbed a while back, he's OK now though...did pretty good as a pro, still has a good record...very talented kid, definitely...I usually see him when I am in Philly at fights...he fought and beat MANY top guys as amateurs...Comment

Man, that's unfortunate but glad to hear he's alright. I don't doubt that he beat a lot of top amateurs... he was very athletic and possessed real talent. Wish fought a little more like Smoke Gainer, though.Comment
