People used to fall 3-4 places just for taking an easy fight while someone else won a tough fight. Now people can take a year vacation or fight 2 cherry picks and not even worry about losing a spot. Just go back and look from 1990 up until today and be amazed at how stagnant it has become over the last 5 years or so.

Your right, I had a thread where I broke down why its laughable and what is even more laughable is it gets more consideration that divisional ranking which are based on actual fights that take place in real life and not just ppls imagination.

Of course it's all based on opinion, you obvious man. But why does that automatically make it "a joke"? Are all opinions jokes? Some are, those that are based on ignorance, biases, or a general lack of intelligence or ability to analyse what one is watching. Others most certainly are not.

The Ring P4P list is compiled by most of the best sports writers in the business, men with large bodies of experience, trained to weigh everything before coming to a conclusion. Therefore the Ring P4P list is generally considered the most authoritative. That doesn't make it right, of course, because nothing subjective is ever inherently right. It can only be argued to be so. But any P4P list that provides similarly well argued reasons for their choices and omissions shouldn't be dismissed either.

P4P lists give us a good guage on whom many boxing fans consider to be the best in the sport, regardless of weightclass, nothing more.

Not necessarily. No one is perfect, and some people might have left fighters off, or rated others too high, that only good argument can convince them was done mistakenly. You can ultimately disagree, but if you aren't open to having your opinions changed then what are you doing on a discussion forum?
