    Home country advantage...

A lot of fans of foreign fighters (foreign to the U.S) say that US fighters fighting in the U.S is an unfair advantage. I disagree, but I do agree that an American fighter fighting in his home CITY or home STATE is an advantage.

I think a lot of people don't realize how unpopular boxing has become in America. Take Ward for example nobody outside of Cali gives a crap about him despite him having the best resume at 168 and winning the super six, even in his home town he can barely draw fans.

Can you imagine the numbers he would draw if he was European and accomplished all the things he's done? Or Mexican, such as Alvarez, despite him beating nobody he draws 30 mill plus viewers in MX.

Alvarez can fight anywhere in MX and draw monster numbers, Khan in England, Pirog, Bute, Sturm, Klits etc. anywhere in Europe. Now that's home country advantage.

You can even take Mayweather-Hatton for example, almost the whole crowd were Hatton fans. Just look at what Mayweather achieved, 5 division World champ, he's won 7 world titles, He also Won the lineal championship in 3 weight classes, he's 42-0 and has one of the best resumes of all time. Despite this the crowd was pro Hatton. He also got a huge boost in fame from 50 cent who pretty much introduced him to nearly every hip hop fan and the youth of America. He's also got that 0 on his record combined with his trash talking and people watch him fight just to see him lose.

I think a lot of foreigners don't realize that Americans usually don't root for an American just because they're american. In order to become popular in America nowadays you've got to be extremely entertaining or be of MX or PR descent, and even if you are you need to be a top 5 P4P fighter that's exciting to watch.

What are your thoughts on this?

Which is why they're desperate for more US champions and they're prepared to use US officials (refs and judges) to make it happen.

If it wasn't true US fighters wouldn't be so reluctant to fight abroad, they know they're protected at home.

It's the sport of boxing's problem as much as any one nation, but US posters shouldn't pretend the US is any different to Germany, UK, Russia, Denmark etc., they're all just the same when it comes to jobbing fighters.

The sport needs one international commission. Sadly it will likely never happen.

I have a challenge for you sir.

Name me just ONE FIGHT that took place on the championship level, in each of the countries that you named, where a local based STAR fighter from those countries LOST a close, disputed, razor thin descision on the scorecards, (or even a clear cut win, but lost on the scorecards) to a fighter from a foreign nation.

I bet you can't do it.

But I can cite you several instances, where this scenario took place in the U.S.
