So... I was viewing this fight again, for the first time in many years.
What really strikes me about it is how the commentators seemed to give no credit at all to Leonard's power, while Tommy's shots, even when they obviously had no effect, were treated like they were atomic bombs. I believe that's accounting for why they scored the bout a bit differently than I did... I mean, sure, Tommy won the first third, but I had it 3-1-1 going into the fifth, while the commentators having a shutout. I belive judges saw it similar to them. This is probably because Tommy was hailed as such a devastating puncher.
The second thing is... I mean seriously, the commentators were complaining about the stoppage? Tommy was really, really, really hurt. He could've been damaged if he'd been left to forty more seconds of unanswered shots.
Great fight, anyway. It's always worth rewatching.
