Sugar Ray Robinson deserves an enormous amount of respect because of what he did in his era. He's not unlike Woody Guthrie in this regard.

Woody pioneered something and Bob Dylan took it further. Very similar situation.

However, if you match the two up at 147, Floyd not only has a chance of beating him but would probably beat him on skill, nutrition, and training/gameplan alone. If Ray Robinson was born today and paired his natural talent with modern training and nutrition, with his intellect in the ring... different story.

        Not necessarily a fair comparison.

Rob had excellent d, better offense, more power, equal or superior speed, and was about three-four inches taller. At Welter, Floyd loses a decision or late KO in a fight where he doesn't win many rounds.

LMAO...ya'll comparing Floyd to this great icon of the sport...lmao, you should be ashamed. Floyd is having to create all this drama with opponents well before his 50th fight just to try his best to preserve his ****** ass 0. Robinson had the exact same record before his first loss.....Robinson fought lie 4 times as many fights as Floyd has given the same amount of time.

Robinson was doing all that minus the advances in sports medicine, nutrition, training techniques........he would eat Floyd alive, you must be joking to think Floyd beats him.

Absolutely, Ray was an ATG, to many THEE ATG, but he isn't some mythical superhero. He was a great fighter in his time, just like he have a few great fighters in our time.

Ray's defense wasn't great and that may be an understatement. And my eyes tell me, through video- save the "historian-expert" bull****, that no one is smarter than Floyd.

Common myth, propagated by the portion of the powers that be who hope and pray to see Floyd lose. He hasn't, so they sell you and the legion of his detractors on him aggressively protecting that zero with his opponent-selection. You've all been conditioned so well, that every time he takes a tough fight, you'd say there must be a catch rather than except what's right under your nose.
