I see what your saying but it's decent fight and finally he won't face midgets like Narvaez.

Vazquez look good against the bum he fought but he failed the Arce test and that's cool. I'd rather see a guy lose and come back a better fighter, rather then a lot of the so called star who are coddled and protected to keep that "0".

Donaire vs Vazquez is a title fight, which is BS. as a fan I'd rather see Donaire fight Toshiaki Nishioka or Rico Ramos for a title. atleast that'd be a title worthy fight.

s.hit like that is why i'm calling it Top Rank bul.lsh.it. Arum did the same with Gamboa, just putting him up against guys who weren't on his level.

I'm not hating on Donaire or Gamboa, these guys could be great but we'll never know because they don't face the best and that's what boxing has become over the past 10 years.

in today's boxing Sugar Ray, Hearns, Duran and Hagler would have never fought each either because promoters were too worry about "protecting" their investments.

personally I think fans need to start call out b.ulls, hit and demand better fights from the top guys.

Well Vazquez is way more of a money fight than Nishioka. Of course it doesn't hurt it's inhouse Top Rank. I also think it's an action fight, and Vazquez is not coming to lose. He hasn't faced any killers, but for a guy with no amateur experience, he was matched very aggressively. More so than PR amateur stars like Cotto, Juanma, not to mention Canelo or Chavez. And he seemed to be a natural fighter. Turns out he was a bit too green for a grizzled vet like Arce, which doesn't bode well against Donaire. I wish he had time to restablish, but Donaire might not stick around at JFW.

Well, don't watch then.Turn off the power on your fuse box.Boxing anything can happen.Vasquez is a good boxer. Donaire is unproven at 122. So this is a good fight.I can smell a surprise in this fight. I think Vasquez will give Runito problems.

most of those guys were promoted by top rank and the only reason those big fights did happen is because they were in house. now arum does the same thing and he's "ruining boxing." the only difference is there are more promoters now so the talent is more spread out.

I can't deny you there. he did organize those fights and the talent is spread around today. However the business model for boxing then and boxing now is different. those fights in the 80's would have been made even if there were mutiple promoters the fights would have been made.

Boxing was on national TV back then so Arum had the incentive to make the best match up possible because a national audience demanded it.

think about today, boxing is all about drawing on ethnic support. ethnic support is all that's left because most of the national audience is gone.
millions of people aren't watching boxing, only a few guys get numbers like that. so the only real way to make money is to play on ethnic rivalaries or create them, regardless of whether it's a creditable fight or not.

today it's all about the spectacle but the substance isn't there, because a national audience isn't there demanding it. come on wouldn't you rather see someone like Cotto take on Mayweather, Kirkland, or Martinez instead the likes of Yuri Foreman, Ricardo Mayorga or Margarito?

Arum is the best at creating the best event but without people demanding quality fights, he isn't going to offer it. the same goes to Golden Boy. they've been protecting Canelo for awhile, I'd like to see what the kid has but as long as they can make money off doing what they're doing why stop?

so in that sense Arum and the others are killing the sport of boxing. Boxing or any sporting event is a spectacle but it has to have substance and boxing today has been lacking that. the politics and too many belts and too many champions. boxing has a lot of probelms. I love the sport but I hate that it's becoming more sports entertainment like the WWE.

tough fight for nonito....wv2 is a very live dog , just watch nonito vs concepcion people, wv2 is stronger fighter than concepcion, yet nonito did not look stellar in that fight.....plus, the wv2 vs arce stoppage was BS anyways....
