The Truth about Klitschko's retirement couldn't be said better than by himself...

    From, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/4433162.stm

Klitschko retired this week after being forced to pull out of his WBC title defence with Hasim Rahman with injury for the fourth time.

But the 34-year-old told pravda.ru: "I will come back only if Lennox Lewis does the same and agrees to fight me.

"Lennox is the only competitor who matters to me."

I've fully believed this ever since he beat Kirk Johnson. He would be calling him out ever since after his fights and although to us it sounded childish, it was what he truely wanted. Who else of this era would truely get people to believe Klitscko could be the champ than beating an "in shape" Lennox Lewis? Vitali knew, the only way to greatness and to get people to love him back and credit him better after his pulling out of the Byrd fight, is if he became the champ by beating what everyone considers the best heavyweight of this past era. I don't believe anything else than this because it just makes perfect sense. Nobody cares about Vitali beating Rahman cause Vitali and the people know Rahman is a bum. Vitali doesn't want Lennox's scraps, he wants Lennox!

bull****, what a ****ing cowardly liar. he's full of **** and only his ****** fans that like him b/c he's white will believe that ****. Why wouldn't he unify all the belts with easy victories if he's so good? Cause he's full of ****. Good riddance to this coward.

Well, this does basically prove that he quit and wasn't really injured.

was it after the Johnson fight, when Vitali was like:"Lennox...hi"?

this is bull****. there was a thread about this yesterday. i said.
does he want his face torn apart again?
because thats all he gets if he fights lennox. VITALI IS NOT WORTH THE TIME OF ANY REAL HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER. HE WILL NOT BE A LEGEND, NOBODY WILL EVEN TALK ABOUT HIM FIVE YEARS FROM NOW!!!

This thread is entirely accurate (never thought you'd hear that from me, eh ElPacMan?). In fact, I think it's stating the obvious.

Consider this though. If Vitali is truly retiring because of some type of physical "problem", then a fit Lennox would probably rip him a new *******, really.

Maybe he never wanted the rematch in the first place. Maybe he just used it as an excuse so that he could avoid other fighters....

vitali retired respectfully, at the time he felt it's best for the sport. honorably.

anybody saying anyhting otherwise, is just ******, and shows lack of understanding the sport.

from the constant responses i've seen here regarding hatred toward any fighters, i could postulate that:

A - most posters with that type of attitude are roughly 15 - 20 years of age.

B - never have boxed, trained, or competed in thier lives.

and C - have mental issues.

grow up, you people make this board look less respectible.
