Best boxing movie

We've had so many threads on this, LOL. The last one we had featured some great discussion.


My personal fav, and a definite Top 5 entry in any credible, movie-literate list,

Raging Bull is undoubtedly the "best", though my personal fave is the original Rocky.

I'd say there's significant doubt about it.

I hated Raging Bull, Jake LaMotta was an abusive scumbag.

My favorite boxing movies are:

1) Cinderella Man 9/10
2) Million Dollar Baby 9/10
3) Gentleman Jim 8/10
4) The Fighter 8/10

Some I didn't like were:

Love Ranch 5/10 (based on Oscar Bonavena's murder)
Raging Bull 4/10
Phantom Punch 3/10

"Raging Bull" is the best film about a boxer...no question. But my favorite is the original "Rocky".

I have to say, I didn't like Rocky 5 but I do get in the mood to watch it on Christmas Eve... its been a "tradition" the last few years

I'm one of the few that didn't like 'Million Dollar Baby' - was too long and slow

Off topic but the saddest one is The Champ.

It's about a boxer who has a son and he's never ever won a fight but needs to win to get bigger fights and bigger money so save his son from a sreious illness. He wins his first ever fight on the end and ends up dying in the ring in front of his son.

I don't care if i spoiled it becasue i dont think any of y'all have seen it

That's a great film, I watched it as a kid. Good shout.

balboa ducked clubber lang in a rematch

Rocky Balboa was a bum with no defense He fought a past prime Apollo Creed , like u said ducked Clubber Lang in a rematch and was a protected fighter for the most part of his career lol.
