exactly. There is a reason why Froch is getting the bigger fight paydays right now and Ward isnt. He makes for good fights.
You can be technical and exciting. I think watching Floyd Mayweather is pretty exciting. Just for his sheer amount of skill, he also has the advantage of being a lot more charasmatic. Guys like Sweet Pea and James Toney were great to watch in their primes. They took chances in their fights and made things fun. Guys like Barerra and Morales are very skilled but are always exciting, because again, they take risks in the ring and go all out.
Ward is just not that type of guy. He's very similar to Hopkins. Plays it safe, clinches and smothers and leads with his head. He's a damn good boxer, but all his fights look the same and its not that is boring, it's just repetitive.Comment

There's a reason why Floyd behaves the way he does outside of the ring. His style isn't exactly crowd pleasing so he has to find another avenue to draw consumers in. If Floyd had the same temperament as Ward, he would NOT be a house hold name. He wouldn't even be a mention as one of Pacquiao's opponents regardless of how much better a fighter he is than Manny.Comment

Perhaps I'm one of the few, but I was totally impressed with how he handled Froch so dominantly. Forch was supposed to be the bigger stronger man and Ward was backing him up, pushing him all around the ring. What I was most impressed with was his inside fight game. I saw him do it against Green and other guys but I never really considered Green on the same level as anyone else in the tournament and to see Ward dominate on the inside was a thing of beauty. Working the inside is difficult but it's my personal favorite way to fight and I just admired how elusive he was able to be while being so effective in close quarters.Comment

usually i respect froch's honesty but i think this time he let the sour g****s get the better of him lol
ward was alot more exciting than froch was on that nite. all froch did was stare at the ref all nite, expecting him to break them up.
froch has no inside game, no real combination punches on the nite
and ward even claimed the centre of the ring all nite,. froch cant really complain.Comment

The dumbing down of the world is the reason all aspects of boxing is not appreciated plain and simple. Fighters take less risks regardless of style(boring or exciting) is because no matter who they fight they still get paid a king's ransom. Why would fighters always fight the best if they can fight the 10th ranked fighter and get just about the same amount of money as they would fighting the #1 ranked fighter. That is what has happened to the sport of boxing.Comment

Fame and fortune.
If you put on a good show more people will want to watch. Put on a boring show and no one will tune in next time.Comment

i was impressed by how he managed to close the distance while keeping his distance away, then came in with his jab and connected all nite. that speed was impressive, dispite the reach advantage of froch,. ward made it negligable.Perhaps I'm one of the few, but I was totally impressed with how he handled Froch so dominantly.
