Plus Corely got destroyed by Lucas shortly after.

    and it was 2010.
Morales hasn't really had the chance to fight another good fighter after Maidana. For all we know, Matthysse could have knocked Morales out too. And maybe Garcia can do it. But I don't see how Corley getting knocked out by Matthysse, take away from looking better than expected and going 12 with Maidana.

It gives credence to the mindset that Marcos didn't take him seriously(whether right or wrong).

Corley has a reputation as a spoiler. Morales was seen as done shot fighter walking to his execution. Helps dramatize the actual fight.

The Morales fight was on a bigger stage and yes he has not fought a good fighter since which helps retain that memorable performance.

+1 Oscar thought he was feeding Kirkland to El Perro and Kirkland was able to upset the apple cart in enemy territory. Hopefully Canelo will fight Kirkland if he gets past Molina.

The fact that Ortiz-Berto and Angulo-Kirkland got absolutely NO press, NO promotion, and NO interest from anyone but hardcore boxing fans, and they were hands down two of the best fights this year.
