Empirical evidence, such as his work against a long never-ending stream of fat, talentless tomato cans? With not one great fighter on his resume?

There is nothing empirical about presuming that NFL/NBA athletes could've been great fighters.
Sure there isn't. There's no evidence whatsoever of world class athletes succeeding in boxing, almost solely on their athleticism.

Just look at the past 2 fighter of the decades.

There are over 8000 Americans playing college basketball and football so pro sports are not the only draw from the sport of boxing. Most baseball players weigh over 200 pounds too.

So in other words TS, they are the best because some fighter who doesn't exist doesn't exist?

I guess Ali wouldn't have been **** too if some better fighter from Europe existed at the time even though he didn't by your line of thinking.

Well if boxing was as popular in America as it was in the 60's then i'm sure there would be more top American heavyweights but that doesnt mean that they could beat Wlad or Vitali. On a side note the Soviet Union never won a heavyweight gold medal at the olympics.

Basketball is the most popular sport in the US in terms of people who play it, and the second most popular sport in the world. Yet it's got the smallest league, only about 400 players. So you have the second most popular sport, and players from all around the world, trying to get into the NBA a league of 400 people. Statistically, getting into the NBA is BY FAR the hardest.

So how is it the easier route. If anything, its the riskiest and most stupid route, since the chances of making it to the NBA are next to nothing.
I thought the NFL is more popular well both the NFL and the NBA are the most popular in America

Wasn't there going to be a match between Chamberlain and Ali back then? But the fight didn't go through people can speculate throughout history about athletes who could have gone to Boxing it's disrespectful to the fighters to keep say these guys would beat them sure the division can be better but more speculation than that is wrong. The Klitschkos are beasts

Here is a former football defensive linemen beating the **** out of Wladimir Klitschko.

Football is also big in Canada! Vitali was beaten by a highschooler from there.

If these guys had grown up in the 1980's they wouldve never become boxers. Thankfully they were brought up in the 1970's idolizing Ali and Foreman.
