well diego, here's the PRESS RELEASE FOR THE FIGHT (like the caps?):
Promoter Frank Warren is delighted to announce that WBO World Super-Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe will face IBF holder Jeff Lacy in a sensational unification showdown set for early 2006.
Warren was in New York last week locked in negotiations with Lacy's promoter Gary Shaw and US TV Network Showtime and has confirmed that the super-fight is signed and will take place in Cardiff in February or March.
"This is the fight that Joe, the media and the fans wanted and I am absolutely delighted that following some hard work over the last few days the fight is on," Said Warren who will promote the show in association with Shaw.
"It will be the biggest fight of the year in Britain and certainly one of the most highly anticipated fights on the world scene in recent years and it will take place in the UK,"
"Joe is recognised as the best in the division that he has ruled for the last eight years with a record 17 defences seeing off six former world champions," "Lacy has looked impressive to date and the media are describing as the new kid on the block and the heir apparent,"
If they fight here, where Lacy is not a star...yet, and where Calzaghe is unknown, the fight is worth next to nothing. If they fight in London, where Lacy has fought in the past and where Calzaghe is a megastar, the fight is worth enough for both men to get millions upon millions. Lacy already stated to a Tampa newspaper that he is flying over there to fight him.
they should fight in a neutral location, similar to floyd hatton. joe shouldnt have to come to the us, but lacy shouldnt have go to to england where he may face an unfair decision

if the fight goes how jeff plans for it to go, there won't be a decision , but yeah i think that's a valid point, my only thing is that America will be eyeing this fight WAAAY more than any other fight outside the border, so i don't think it would really be a problem. hopefully..
If Frank Warren is the one saying it AND saying it is happening in the UK, you can bet Lacy's camp will come out sometime in the next day and say it's all bull****. No way in hell should Lacy have to go there to fight Calzaghe. Calzaghe should have to come here.
look, i understand what ur saying, but allow me to show you this perspective:
cal***gy is a coward. cal***gy doesnt want this fight, he strongly opposes everything about it. but apparently hes accepted it anyway. but if the fight were to take place in america, cal***gy would have every reason he needs to dodge lacy. and lacy is one of the few brave fighters who will go into some1's back yard or hometown or own country and fight them anyway.
cal***gy doesnt want this fight, but at least its happening. so lets not start whining about where it should take place.

lacy wont have to worry about an unfair decision. like i said in another thread, it doesnt matter what the scorecards say when you win by knockout.
In what way is Calzaghe a phoney?(thats how you spell phoney correctly!)
All the so called big names have ducked him for years!
When he was at his peak a couple of years ago he was rated by most knowledgeable people as one of the best in the world.
As for the fight being held outside of the states, what is the big deal about that? That must be where the money is or the promoters would take it elsewhere.
Now go crawl back under the stone you came from. you MUPPET.
