Ricky Burns beat Michael Katsidis last month to become interim-WBO lightweight champion and will take on a yet-to-be-named opponent on 10 March in Glasgow. The venue for that bout has not been announced but Burns' preference is clear. Kevin Mitchell, John Murray and Anthony Crolla have been mentioned as possible opponents for Burns in 2012.

as much as i want to keep seeing the brilliant juan manuel marquez fight, i just don't think he should take any fights at this stage for less than 2-3 million dollars. . . he's clearly better than burns, and any other LW out there. . . he should just vacate that belt unless burns and frank offer him said amount of money. . . either secure rematch with pacquiao, or see if HBO will offer you a payday of around 2 million to fight the best guys at 140; preferably Bradley. . . no offense burns, but you ain't in marquez's ballpark. . .

but please, burns, have some dignity and fight one of the other beltholders, now that you will likely be automatically promoted to full WBO LW champ. . . preferably TITERE, miguel vazquez. . . now THAT is a very evenly matched fight. . . both tall, lanky LW's with below average pop and above average boxing skills. . . slight edge goes to titere due to level of competition he's mixed it up with. . .

more than likely arum will try his damndest to entice marquez to fight bradley, and the winner gets PACSMASH. . . HBO would pick that fight up for a good 3 million at least. . . but bradley would probably think he's worth half. . dude is so delusional

The better the class of opponent the better Burns performs Tbh I think Marquez would be a great fight for Burns and high risk low reward fight for JMM

I can't argue with that tbh man but styles make fights .There's never a truer quote than that and JMM is a great fighter .Burns beat Katsidis as well only he never hit the canvas .I think it would be competitive atleast but fair enough

i bet JMM could stop Rios just like he did a champion version of casamayor, a prime diaz and a tough as hell katsidis. rios could maybe knock JMM down but we all know that just makes him better.
