Comments Thread For: Daniel Geale Will Face Mandatory Osumanu Adama Next

IBF middleweight champion Daniel "Real Deal" Geale (26-1, 15KOs) will hold his first mandatory title fight in Tasmania on February 29th, six months after his successful bout in Hobart. Geale defeated Nigerian-born American Eromosele "Bad Boy" Albert in front of 5000 parochial fans at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in August to retain the belt he claimed by downing Sebastian Sylvester in Germany in May.

that's disappointing to hear, considering pirog was suppose to get a shot at geale. wonder what will happen now...adama should be a good fight for geale though.

Premium cable isn't interested in Pirog. Too foreign. Doesn't speak English or Spanish so no demand. He should fight on Solo Boxeo, FNF, or in that new NBC Sports Network show coming up even if it means making less money than in Russia. He needs to build his name in the states in low level tv first like most fighters have. Otherwise he's ****ed.

that's a good suggestion, but he wouldn't even have to do all that. just get a shot at one of the decent names at MW. look at proksa, he got a chance and destroyed slyvester, now he's above pirog in the MW rankings. so is macklin, and he didn't even win against sturm. i doubt anyone gives him a chance though, honestly.
who is his promoter anyways? some russian company right? the guy is already 31, he doesn't have all the time in the world. there are exceptions like martinez who start getting known late but what are the odds. it's a shame too cause he's got talent.

Osumanu Adama is a solid fighter. This will be a good fight.

Really too bad there are a million fighters with middleweight "titles" and nobody fights each other, so all the champions "defend" against B-level opponents. Instead of Geale-Pirog, we get second-rate mandatories from both and big talents like Golovkin fighting nobodies instead of his alphabet "super champion" Sturm, who is scared ****less of any of the other belt holders

This is disappointing, I wanted to see Geale-Pirog.

Geale is just going to do the same thing Pirog is doing. he'll stay in his home country and fight "mandatory" bums. Pirog and Geale just took a page from the Felix Sturm book. don't expect either guy to leave home.
