  • Froch to fight Lucian Bute twice. Deal already made!

Carl Froch's consolation for losing the Super Six final and with it his WBC super-middleweight title will be two hugely enriching fights next year against IBF belt-holder Lucian Bute.

The second of those two opportunities to re-establish himself quickly as a world champion will also enable Froch to fulfil his ambition of fighting in his beloved Nottingham Forest's football stadium.

With rising American superstar Andre Ward declining to meet Bute for the undisputed 12-stone crown, the way back for Froch opened up within hours of the second defeat of his career.

Bute, the Canadian-based Romanian, agreed to the two-fight proposal from Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn. The first fight is projected for Montreal in April, the return at Forest's City Ground in June or July. Froch said: 'That will be just fantastic. It's my dream.'

Hearn said: 'This must be the quickest and easiest deal we've done. We take the British end, they take the Canadian money and we split the rest 50-50, for both fights. Nice and simple.'

Bute was in the historic Boardwalk Hall to watch Ward's brilliant victory and his annoyance with some of Froch's earlier remarks helped clinch the deal.
The Nottingham Cobra, 34, had accused Bute of enjoying an easy ride while the rest of the world's top super-middleweights have spent two years battling each other to a standstill in the Super Six tournament.

Bute, 31, said: 'My next ambition is to close Carl's big mouth. He is arrogant and has too much to say. The truth of the Super Six is that I was very disappointed not to be invited. While Ward deserved this victory my preference is still to fight Froch and teach him a lesson.'

Kessler couldn't get one stinking fight made with Bute and here is Froch making two.

    Good on you, Carl.

This is an even split for 2 fights. Kessler was offered 70/30 for one fight in Canada!

I look forward to this. Froch and Bute's style should match-up well. Both are hittable. Potentially FOTY candidates for 2012 IMO.

        That's because Kessler isn't a draw.

Thats why u gotta love Froch.

Most people would take advantage of the fact they've become a bigger draw and fight someone like Smith for a homecoming fight and make some easy money.

He goes straight for the best possible fighter in his division that he hasnt faced.

          WAR FROCH!!!

            Froch's schedule has been amazing!

            Pascal
            Taylor
            Dirrell
            Kessler
            Abraham
            Johnson
            Ward

and now Bute. That's 8 of the toughest competition someone can fight in a row.

All the way in 2013? And I don't understand why they would agree to two fights, what if one of them gets completely smashed in the first fight to the point where nobody wants to see a second?

Both world class boxers. What are the chances of that happening?

The Super Six tournament was supposed to be 2 fights each wasn't it?

Mayweather and Pacquiao should be ashamed of their match making compared to Carl Froch's

The Cobra can look slow and crap but if he keeps fighting the toughest guys i will keep pulling for him and i think most fans will too. WAR FROCH

Probably because there's no way they could have agreed on venue had it been only one fight. If the first fight ends up being a decisive and lopsided win for one part I'm sure they can strike a deal that makes the second fight void.
