    Attended Ward/Froch, Met About 10 Boxers/Promoters...

I attended only my second live fight ever this past Saturday. I was able to watch Roy Jones/Joe Calzaghe in '08. I was seated in the front row of one of the 100 level seats, which is pretty much floor level. Our seats just happened to be by one of the entrances, so here's a bunch of people that I was able to meet:

    1) Victor Ortiz: I noticed him right away because of his K.C. Royals hat. Very good guy, who happens to be one of my favorite fighters. He allowed me to take a pic of him and his girl.

    2) Mikkel Kessler: Walked by, smiling. He walked by again after the fight, and I asked him if he wanted to take on Ward again. He shrugged his shoulders like 3 times.

    3) David "Big Papi" Ortiz: He walked by before the fight, and I thought he was someone famous. Once I realized it, he was long gone. Saw him after the fight and shook his hand. He's a husky dude.

    4) Lamont Peterson, Anthony Peterson, and his crew: Lamont walked by with shades on, as Khan did some damage to his eye. I saw Anthony later, and he allowed me to take a pic of him.

    5) Lou Dibella: I was very drunk, as he seemed to be. After the fight, I asked him "Who you got, Lou?" He told me "I don't think Froch won 10 seconds of that fight."

    6) Naazim Richardson: There were only two rounds left, and Naazim walked in. I think he was with his nephew, Karl Dargan. He was calm as usual. Good guy.

    7) Danny Garcia: He was with his trainer/father, and a few people. He thought Ward won convincingly. It wasn't until a few hours ago that I remembered that he's signed to fight Erik Morales for El Terrible's 140 lb. title in January on HBO. Wish I would've asked him about it.

    8) Steve Smoger: 45 minutes after working the main event, Steve was hanging with the fans. He took a pic with my buddy and I. He was talking about how he never gets work on the west coast. He was making jokes and having fun. Great guy.

    9) Andre Ward's wife: After the right, she was in and out of the main floor a few times. Not sure why. Steve Smoger had a good conversation with her.

    10) Kell Brook: That was the first time I saw him fight. Just congratulated him.

***Lucian Bute, Andre Berto, and Bernard Hopkins: I know they were in the house, but they didn't come by my way.

Not a bad night, for only a couple of $100 tickets!

the first time i met//saw dibella he sized me up and grilled me (i dont want to brag, but got blessed me with more muscle than he blesses most)

he was really letting one of his employees have it

        he grilled me, lol
he sized me up and grilled me.

it was his show (broadway boxing,) so i didnt want to take any of his time and talk to him.

boxers are the most approachable athletes on the planet
if they didnt want attention from fans they wouldn't be at these fights.

you want to see a gracious athlete?
find a guy with only a few fights in the stands after he fights and tell him he did a great job (find a guy who won his fight, lol.)

        i guarantee he lights up

the only fighter i've ever seen who wasnt receptive for the fans was matt remmillard
he was walking up a row in the stadium and people were bumping fist with him (he had just broken some guys ribs in a couple rounds and won via knockout) and he looked pissed off about it

and we know how he ended up (smashed some guy with a bat and is now sitting in a jail cell for five years)

Awesome story man. I wish you hung around Dibella more when he was drunk and caught some of his drunk talk. The Boxing World is awesome.
