                Anthony Dirrel overcame cancer and came back to find himself right now in the top 5 at 168 by the WBC...

                  Sounds like the type of cancer or rather location of the cancer and its affects on him is a bit of a different scenario. Regardless he seems like a nice kid and even if he cant fight at that level maybe there will still be a place somewhere for him in boxing.

                  This is where the promotors need to step up and show that they care about their fighters on a human level. I know health care is exepensive but I would have thought that for a rising prospect like Jacobs his manager and or promotor would have had some health care lined up for him.

                    in the article it mentioned jacobs has no health insurance but a couple people, including al haymon, took care of the bills (most of or all, not sure).

                    I really wish boxing had some type of health fund for fighters who aren't super rich.

                      Yeah i remember reading that good for Haymon stepping up. It just makes me wonder why health insurance wouldnt be something that is included at Jacobs level.
