Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara-Ronald Hearns To Battle on January 21st?

Sources close to the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that junior middleweight Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10KOs) could very well end up facing Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20KOs) on January 21st, which is a Showtime televised doubleheader. Hearns has been inactive since challenging Felix Sturm for the WBA middleweight title in February. He was stopped in seven rounds. Months later he was scheduled to face WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who withdrew from the contest with a hand injury. Former champion Paul Williams would appear in the main event against Japanese upset-artist Nobuhiro Ishida.

Hearns is like a small-town slut. Everybody wants her because they think she's easy.

someone posted this news some days ago. he even said "you heard it here first"....good stuff man! haha. easy work for lara but i mean no one at 154 is giving this guy a fight. wish trout or vanes would be willing to, those would be excellent matchups.

I just don't understand why they would put Lara and Paul Williams in the same card if they aren't fighting each other. The controversial decision is going to be looming during the entire night and it's just going to be awkward. Are they trying to build up a rematch? What the hell is the point? Just have the rematch.

Advantage for Lara who's battle tested!

Ronald, has had to learn his craft as a professional without the standout amature background of the expirenced Lara. Lara has the background of a fighter that exceeds 50 professional fights. This is a no brainer! I'm not knocking Hearns but he's older and don't have the credentials to deal with this level of a fighter. When you only have had 10 or so amature fights it's hard to reach a stellar championship level and that's the difference here.
