Your final view on the Super Six

For me, it was a huge success, despite the dropouts and difficulties.

    - It showed that not every undefeated fighter out there is only interested in protected his 0. Four undefeated guys went into the tournament knowing that only one (possibly none), could come out with his 0 intact.

    - It threw up surprises. Did anyone honestly expect Arthur Abraham to be exposed in the way he was? Did anyone believe Glen Johnson could drop down a weight class in his 40s and remain competitive?

    - The best man won. Andre Ward was dominant and composed from start to finish. He didn't get unlucky with cuts, or injuries or poor decisions.

If it were to happen again, I have three real criticisms:

    - Why wasn't Lucien Bute involved? By all accounts, he wasn't even asked. They had four chances to do so, as i understand it. Whether he'd have entered or not is another matter but we still don't really have a confirmed #1 until Ward faces him.

    - It took too long. 26 months from start to finish was too much for me.

    - The schedule and venues should have been decided before the tournament even started. You want in, you're going to have to fight away from home at least once - no arguments.

    But overall it was excellent.

I think it would have been better off as a single elimination deal, and they could have the losers face each other as well. It took too long and had too many issues with the structure used.

Gave us good fights, mostly involving Froch, and shone light on a new dominant player in boxing, but I can't help but feel it failed its potential. Almost every fight until this year had controversy of some kind.

Pretty spot-on. Too complicated and too much *****ing and politics, but ultimately gave us better fights than we'd have had if the competition hadn't been arranged.

I agree w/ your statements, however, I don't think it was a huge success, and last night's finale proved it via crowd attendance.

I totally agree w/ the whole venue issues, they should've hashed that out from the start.

And, I didn't like the fact that the two Andre's were pretty firm on not wanting to face each other. Obviously they thought about this ahead of time, then one of 'em shouldn't have bothered to join in. I mean, if it wasn't for that "robbery" in the UK, the chances would've been pretty good that they would've had to face each other.

I think the attendances could and should have been addressed with ticket pricing and distribution. Can't sell the tickets? Slash the prices and/or give them away. These fights could and should have been used to sell boxing to the next generation of fans.

it took way too long. i think a lot of momentum was lost with the time in between fights. i also think that all 3 fights in the prelim rounds should have been scheduled on the same night. it doesnt seem like the uk channels have a problem showing fights from multiple countries on one broadcast. sup showtime???

it was a good idea in theory. great idea actually. i'm glad that the top guys all fought or attempted to fight each other. i'd rather have that than soft touches and mandatory title defenses...matches that don't belong on premium cable channels.

unfortunately, a lot of the fights weren't that great or memorable. to be honest, i wouldn't watch most of them ever again for pure entertainment value. i would only watch again to score them while discussing controversial fights and such
