and thats what will make it such a fascinating fight. I still think Ward can out tough him on the inside and win but it will be just another notch under Ward's name proving he can beat a faster fighter

Ward is faster, more skilled, better defensively, has better timing, better inside and outside, throws better punches....he's just a much better fighter. Bute has the advantage in punch power, that's about it.

Dirrell is about the only guy at 168 who's faster than Ward.

Yea, I agree he isn't as fast... but he does have those body shots which are truly terrorizing.

Bute is the fastest guy at 168 since Roy Jones in 94. Dirrell and Ward aren't quite on that level.

Which is why it would it would be such a great win for Ward showing he can win with smarts and toughness alone

Dirrell is the fastest at 168 by quite a distance for me, he's extremely quick.

Ward has very good speed also, it's not so much hand speed it's just general speed which is made better through perfect timing. I don't think Bute will have anything to offer agianst Ward tbh.

Bute vs Ward is a great fight because Bute has all the physical advantages Ward has all the intangibles

Dirrell's hand speed is tremendous, as are his reflexes.

Time will tell on the Bute-Ward fight, I'll take Ward via a vey wide points win. As in 118-110 or something along those lines.

Bute is faster in the handspeed department, Ward is faster overall, quicker feet, better upper body movement etc. He's just more "switched on." Overall, I'd rather be a fighter like Ward than Bute. Bute's blistering on the offence, but he doesn't seem to handle certain fighters so well. Ward's taken on pretty much every style there is and adjusted to win. That's at least partly due to his good speed which allows him to get in and out, command the ring, avoid punches and land his own when he sees an opening.

I'm becoming a bit of a fan of Ward, though I won't ever like his smothering spoiling stuff. Excellent skills though. You can tell he's an extremely smart fighter who uses his head in there (no pun intended).

Agreed. And it's not even really debatable. Dirrell's hands are some of the quickest P4P in the world right now. I'd even say he matches up extremely well with the fastest fighters of the past. Pity he's so deficient in his other areas though.
