Yeah although Chavez Jr isn't that good. I think that they both have the same problem in fact, which is that they both have a bad defense and allow too many punches to come in between their arms. Also today Omar received almost every uppercut that Paez threw, which is something that also happens a lot to Chavez Jr.

yeah and chavez is improving as well, so the leaky defense can soon be maintained. although i think if he faced a tough fighter and that's really on him, his brawler/no defense style can come out of him, because it is his natural way of fighting. and that could put him in some trouble if he's in front of a hard/big puncher.

We'll find out how he does against Rubio, who is by far the hardest puncher Jr has ever faced. The most important thing for Jr is that he has made some improvements in his last few fights, but I still see his defense as a bad vulnerability, and against a powerful puncher like Rubio that could be a serious problem.

how would you rate chavez' power? i think if it was good/great he'd put zbik away. another thing i thought about is he fought matt vanda twice. the first time many thought vanda beat him and the second time it went the distance. just this friday, rubio put him away in 5 rounds. not saying it should be a certain measuring stick, but man, it's hard for me to picture chavez beating rubio. i honestly hope it happens. win or lose, it's a learning experience.
EDIT: also, rubio's been caught before, check it out.

what is it with you, you're the first one to say ****** shit nowadays.lol.
Omar Chavez was a real good fighter till they brought him to ****** Roach, that and the fact that he killed a guy in the ring a few years ago.bet you didn't know that huh? all that plays a big roll in a fighters mind.now he can't let his hands go.Ruined......not even Ariza's shakes can help him now.

I think Chavez Jr has good but not exceptional power. It's really hard to tell if he hits very hard or not since he has faced lots of bad opposition. His only good fights were against Zbik (I had in fact Zbik winning by one point) and in the end I thought he could KO Zbik but didn't show enough ambition, and against Manfredo he was able to do it and looked pretty good but Manfredo was completely done and it was pretty obvious the fight was not going to last.

About Vanda I saw both fights that Jr had against him and also I had Vanda winning the first fight by 2 points, and in the second one there I had Jr winning by a comfortable margin.

Rubio is a harder puncher than Chavez Jr, in fact Rubio is one of the hardest punchers of the division but since he's not a great boxer and just had one good opportunity to challenge for the title (against Pavlik when Pavlik was still good) he's a little bit underrated IMO. Veneno has a KO rate of over 75% and in this fight against Vanda he showed massive power, and also against Lemieux even though now Lemieux seems overrated, he took some hard shots pretty well and was able to KO Lemieux in just 2 rounds since during the first 4 or 5 rounds Rubio was just covering himself waiting for Lemieux to get tired.

The main problem with Rubio vs Jr is that there's no way that Rubio is going to win the fight on the scorecards. Jr is a lot more protected than Omar and surely what happened with Omar today is not going to happen with Jr. If Rubio wants to win he must KO Jr, and although Jr has a good chin IMO he hasn't been tested against hard punchers. If Zbik had more power he would've KOd Jr IMO, so maybe Rubio can do it if he prepares well for the fight and fights with the right strategy.

I have to agree with this. Omar wasn't the best boxer ever but IMO he was on the right track until that fight with Nazareth happened. It was a good fight actually, the best one that Omar had at that moment. Unfortunately Nazareth died a few days after because of brain bleeding, and IMO Omar wasn't the same again.

exactly the way i feel about both guys and seeing that fight happen. rubio needs to make sure he doesn't let that fight go the distance if it happens. i honestly hope it happens, it's a great fight for both guys...
