Pavlik finally splits with Leow, now with......

According to sources hes going to be training with Roberto Garcia
    http://www.cleveland.com/sports/inde...d_ex-trai.html

kelly pavlik jack loewAP FileBoxer Kelly Pavlik and long-time trainer Jack Loew have reportedly split.

Jack Loew should have seen it coming. He probably did.

Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has apparently made the split with the only trainer he has ever had. What was a rumor in October is about to become reality, as Pavlik is reportedly moving to California to train under Robert Garcia.

Loew has not returned phone calls to The Plain Dealer, but was quoted in the Youngstown Vindicator last week saying that he “had no desire to work with Kelly Pavlik anymore.”

Citing a lack of control over the fighter away from the gym, Loew had told a Youngstown radio station the break was taking place.

“It’s a sad way it ended,” said Loew during the radio interview. “When you can’t control a fighter outside of the ring, it’s time to walk away. I have no control of Kelly outside of the ring anymore, and I refuse to take the heat for things I can’t control.”

After winning the 160-pound title in September 2007 against Jermain Taylor, Pavlik has seen his career sidetracked by defeats to Bernard Hopkins and Sergio Martinez. He was also hit by illness, injury and alcohol, undergoing rehabilitation for that a year ago.

However, rumors of erratic behavior have continued, and there has been speculation the fighter would leave his hometown under pressure from his handlers.

No matter who trains him, Pavlik will never retain the former glory he once had. The only thing that was holding back Kelly Pavlik was Kelly Pavlik.

          skills?

          lets look at his arsenal:

          single jab
          double jab
          triple jab

he has potential to develop some more skill, hopefully he'll find the proper guidance!

should hire bhop to train him

Pavlik is the hardest puncher at 160, and actually has very good boxing skills.

His footwork is terrible, though. I don't see Robert Garcia being a good match for him at all. If anyone should train with Emmanuel Steward, it should be Pavlik. He's almost the prototypical Kronk fighter (huge puncher, long reach, good boxing skills) and he actually has a very solid chin.

Garcia will have him slipping punches, but he needs someone to help him develop his power. Steward is the guy for that.

Not sure how much of his career he can salvage. I'm curious to see him back in action though.
