    Maskaev Decisions Sam, Undercard Results

US-based Russian heavyweight Oleg Maskaev clearly outscored Sinan Samil Sam over twelve rounds and won the WBC Intīl title. This was also a WBC eliminator (exact status will be determined next week it seems). There were no knockdowns but Maskaev looked unsteady at the end of the fourth and shaken in the sixth. As the fight went on, Maskaev began moving a little more and got in position to fire his fine right hand as Sam plodded forward. [details]

Which gives him Russian citizenship I'm sure. So you could say he is Russian.

Way to go Oleg! This is an awesome story if he becomes heavyweight champion. Rahman is gonna avoid this fight at all costs! No financial gain and high risk of landing in Lampley's lap again. The WBC better honnor his #1 ranking because a lot of people would love to see this rematch!

...Oleg just guaranteed some shady business going on now with the WBC rankings.
