I sparred Allan and thought to myself that 'this guy has a ton of potential.' He is DEFINITELY a prospect and contender material. He has the potential to deal with Lacy, sure. As for sparring I like to spar with anybody I can... amateurs, pros, top guys, champions, novices etc. I am up for most things that can happen in a ring

nice post john.
A very good friend of mine is an ex pro and has told me of a few hard sparring sessions, hes never boasted tho, its like an unwritten rule for him, one day he might dominate or spar very well against fighters generally regarded better than him but on another he may have novices or ams giving him plenty to think about, nature of the gameComment

Yeah, that's true. Very true. Sometimes novice level guys will give me more trouble that a contender or a world champ... the reason for that is because when you go in with someone you KNOW is a good fighter you tend to take it more seriously and be more aware and alert.Comment

when boxers spar prior to a big fight - how intense and "real" is the sparring? are the people who a challenger/champion spars against told not to go all out to avoid injuries be4 a big fight? for a boxer this must be difficult to control....Comment

Every boxer is different....Vinny Paz for example would have ALL OUT sparring sessions every time u worked with him.Comment
