Malignaggi refuses to fight Senchenko in Ukraine

Paulie Malignaggi is no warrior. He's afraid to travel to Ukraine to fight Vyacheslav Senchenko.

    from World Boxing News:

    http://www.***************.net/2011/...iseev-and.html

WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko and his manager Dmitriy Eliseev seem unlikely to agree to face former 140lb champion Paulie Malignaggi in the US if Eliseev’s recent Twitter rant is anything to go by.

Eliseev is currently negotiating with Malignaggi over a possible title bout between his fighter and the ‘Magic Man’ but it seems talks are far from straight forward as the recent communications have revealed.

Malignaggi is hoping to entice Senchenko to the US for the bout to raise his profile, whilst Eliseev wants the bout held in the champion’s backyard of Donetsk, Ukraine.

“In November, you were glad to box in Donetsk with Senchenko at Donbass Arena,” expressed Eliseev.

“Now you want (to fight) in New York with you as the home fighter but to box us in America you haven't made the adequate proposal.

“Already there will be auctions and you will have very little chance. If you really want to fight for a belt, you will travel to the Ukraine.

“Your conditions do not permit us to come to the US. We are not going to give you the WBA title,” he added.

Malignaggi, 31, was swift with his response as usual, with the sel-professed ‘Twitter King’ admitting that he had agreed to fight in the Ukraine but is now hoping for a home fight or at the very least a neutral venue to meet the WBA belt holder.

"Come to the USA so I can show you what level of skill I am at. I am here waiting, I want this fight, I want his belt,” said Malignaggi.

“Coming to the USA will make you a star regardless if you win or lose. Don't be afraid. You won't get beat up too bad.

“Real champions come to the United States to fight - ask Ricky Hatton. Everyone Senchenko beat was a dead corpse. Malignaggi is alive and he throws punches back!”
The champion Senchenko should defend his title at home if he can outbid the challenger. Too many boxers like Amir Khan, Mikkel Kessler and Dejan Zaveck have already lost their titles in the US to pampered boxers like Mali***gi getting home cooking from shady referees.

If Mali***gi wants it bad enough, he should man up and go to Ukraine.

I hope it's in the US, but not New York.

If it's in Ukraine, Malignaggi will get robbed (because he's clearly not going to KO Senchenko).

If it's in NY, Senchenko won't get fair officiating and judging.

If it's in Vegas or LA it'll be fairer. I don't think the fight would warrant it's own card, but as an undercard to another fight it'll be good. Maybe they should put it on the undercard of Mayweather's May 5th fight, or on the undercard of Khan-Peterson 2 if it is made.

        Wise move by Paulie.

It would be a complete waste of time putting your record on the line for a meaningless paper title in some irrelevent poverty stricken 3rd world TURD hole. Especially when there are much better, more entertaining fights out there @ 147 for Paulie. Who actually pays attention to who has what title these days? If ain't the RING/Lineal title, it's about as useful as a roll of Charmin.

Either make his ass come to the universally recognized Mecca/Capital of the boxing universe to fight, like everyone else that actually wants to further their career and be considered "legit" or he can stay irrelevent in his commie shithole.

Plus, the biggest stars that country ever produced don't even fight there. That should tell you something.

I understand where Paulie is coming from. He knows he is not going to stop this guy, and having it in his backyard he knows he won't get the decision.

Malignaggi is FAR from a "pampered boxer", don't get him mixed up with guys like Devon Alexander or Andre Berto. Paulie is not that type of fighter. For a guy who's basically feather-fisted, he has tremendous heart.

Should do it in Vegas. If Senchenko wins, it'd give him publicity on a level he has not seen.

He could actually jump to top 3 WW with a win. Just because he is a champion that is undefeated and beat a pretty well known guy.

Why? If an American boxer has a world title, he defends it in the USA. Mayweather, Taylor, Pavlik, Dawson, Hopkins, Jones and everybody else always have.

Why should European boxers have to go anywhere else to defend? The fight will make as much if not more in Ukraine.
