If you did, you'd knw your statement about Mayweather not having any inside game is as inept as Hatton's "bullrush" style. Mayweather owned Hatton inside. He out toughed and outfought Hatton on the inside with sharp, short bodyshots amidst al the wrestling.
No he did not. This is a ***** created myth. Let me tell you what happened.

In the first four/five rounds Hatton is fresh, tries to make it an inside fight, Cortez pulls him off and separates them at every opportunity. This goes on round after round, he jumps in repeatedly and Hatton is forced to fight Mayweather's fight on the outside getting caught repeatedly as he comes in.

After 7 or so rounds Cortez sees Mayweather is on top, Hatton is spent by this point and Cortez stops breaking them up and Floyd begins to hold his own on the inside. This is when Uncle toothless tells Floyd 'you don't got to run anymore' and this is where the myth of Mayweather being able to fight on the inside is created.

After the fight a bunch of brainless *****s then claim Mayweather beat Hatton on the inside, ridiculous.

The truth is Mayweather could never match a fresh Hatton on the inside, all he could do was throw an elbow or hold on for Cortez to come rushing in.

The ride was fixed from the start, from the weight, to the venue, the ring size, to the ref, the judges...everything about it was designed to fcuk Hatton over and they managed it, just like they did with Khan last weekend.

Ahhhhhh, now it all comes out. Didn't take much did it, Weebler.

First, yes Cortez was a little over zealous in breaking them up. But most of the time, they were either getting tangled or there was no actual action on the inside in the first two/three rounds. Hatton wasn't actually doing anything after charging forwards and he hardly threw punches while doing so, unless it was one of his predictable hooks- after which he'd hold anyway. He used to fight very well inside until his fight with Collazo where he was hitting and holding for dear life on the instructions of Billy Graham. He then took it to another level against Juan Urango, at time just rushing to grab like a sailor to a mast in the late rounds.

When Cortez got a hold of himself and let the guys fight inside, it was Mayweather digging in the body shots and winning the "rough stuff" battle. Yes, at times it was dirty, but this was exactly what Hatton said he was coming in to do. He wanted to make Mayweather fight and he got his wish. Hatton spent the whole fight headhunting like a fool and trying to wrestle when inside, instead of getting close but leaving space to work.

You use your revisionist excuses if you want, but Mayweather was opening up as early as the third round where a three punch combo cut Hatton. And if Hatton was spent after six rounds, maybe his kebab and guiness diet between fights finally caught up with him. There were clearly points when both fighters were close and it was Mayweather getting in the shots.

Keep on believing all you want as it probably gives you comfort, but in all honesty, I don't see a scenario where Hatton wins against Mayweather. He is tailor made with his charging in with the lunging hook. He got check hooked at least two or three times before the big one- and still kept lunging with the left hook.

Sorry Dave "I'll stand by and let Ricky low blow or throw elbows" Parris wasn't there to help him, but that's boxing. Ricky got worked and merc'd. Deal with it.

Hatton hardly held at all, it was Floyd doing the holding. They weren't getting tangled, Cortez was jumping in before they had a chance to do anything.

When Cortez got a hold of himself and let the guys fight inside
As I said, Hatton was spent by this point, this is where the myth comes from.

If Mayweather is such a great inside fighter, why are no other fights of his great work on the inside mentioned? it's always the Hatton fight and it's based on fcuk all quite frankly.

He is tailor made with his charging in with the lunging hook.
that's the point, you don't have to go charging in if it's an inside fight, Cortez separating them meant Hatton had to hunt Floyd down after every break-up which allowed Floyd to get off when RH was coming in.

You call me a revisionist, but you have put forth a fair few revisionist myths yourself.

We're not going to agree on this, Ricky didn't get a fair shake from the ref and Cortez has since been discredited by most as an elite ref. It is what it is.

I should add I'm not blind to Mayweather's talent, he's one of the best to lace em up, but if something isn't sporting in boxing it's fair and right that people flag it up.

wait so why was Hatton "spent" according to this theory? Are you proposing that Cortez by pushing Hatton off Mayweather, completely nullified all of Hatton's energy? These are shocking revelations.

Ricky knew he had to take some on the way in, but Cortez breaking them meant he had to work his way in over and over again which set him up perfectly for FMJ.

Back on topic, I don't see that FMJ is going to rough up Khan on the inside, stylistically it's not a good match-up for Floyd as Khan's handspeed is faster than his own. People point to Floyd's timing/counterpunching and maybe they're right but I can't see him ******** on that, I don't think the fight will happen.

Weebler, Mayweather was constantly getting caught under Hatton's arm when ducking his hook and Cortez kept pulling apart in the first two rounds. From three onwards he let them fight more inside. If Hatton was already spent by then it doesn't say much for his conditioning. There was plenty of opportunity to fight inside from round four onwards but Hatton was being beaten there.

Mayweather also had to use some inside fighting to turn the tide against Judah after being beaten to the punch for the first four rounds. He got closer and broke Judah up to the body then went to the head.

I understand how bad you must've wanted Hatton to win, but he was never good enough despite being a good fighter and champion. The ref thing was a smokescreen to cover for his inability to effectively pressure Mayweather or deal with his superior offense. You were probably one of those who never dreamed May would knock him out, right? Nevemind, the check hook will only be remembered forever.

Khan will realize just flurrying is going to get him knocked out and he will end up slowing his pace down and try to box Floyd more conventionally, which isn't going to get him much farther ahead.

Not too mention Khans defense and ability to slip Floyds punches also isn't going to work out very well.

What may work on other opponents: i.e. flurrying to rack up points, isn't going to work out the same on Floyd.
