Carl Froch knows that Ward is the toughest foe he's come against. So he's trying his best to downplay Ward's achievements to make the challenge ahead seem less dark. But he knows it's gonna be a really tough road, the toughest, which will end in him losing. He's hoping that he could hit Ward with something big. Which is unlikely with a fighter as savvy and highly defence-articulate as Ward.
Looking back to the latest Fight Camp 360 there's a scene where he's seated across from his girlfriend Rachel, and said "Do I look like I'm worried about Ward? Do I look like I'm concerned?" It's at that point when I knew he was shook. His body language sold that fact to me. He was twiddling his fingers and thumbs like crazy; and had the look all over of a concerned man. Anyone who saw that, gif it. It was a very telling moment in the entire episode.

Froch is right, the Kessler fights don't make him the underdog here. What makes Ward the favorite is that except for a slight advantage in power, everything else favors Ward (hand speed, footspeed, coordination, defence, ability to fight inside or outside). I really respect Froch, and I'm no Ward fan, but its hard to see Froch winning this fight.
Its the worst I have ever seen Kessler fight, he looked terrible, ring rusty and the fouling that Ward got away with was unbelievable. I think the lay off and the occasion (first fight on US soil, big expectation as the Super Six favourite) all got to Kessler and he had a shocker. I also give Ward some credit for his performance, but boy, the headbutts were something else.
How is it Ward got to fight in his backyard for the whole tournament, anyway?
