  • Why didn't Foreman ever gey points taken off? He was pushing Fraziar(sp) like crazy!

    • People trying to use older fights to say the pushing wasn't anything are ******. Rules change, sports change. As the human body continues to develop into bigger and stronger beings, the rules and the safety of the competitors do as well.

Look at the NFL for example, went from leather helmets to shock absorbent reinforced polycarbonate what-have-you.

To be fair, the pushing wasn't too bad, but it was blatant enough to get the referee's attention. Khan should've gotten the hint with the first deduction, he's lucky the ref didn't take another point for pushing Peterson's head down so frequently as well.

For Khan to say he was the clean fighter, yeah right!

So about 30 seconds of Foreman pushing is comparable to Khan pushing, elbowing, headlocking, holding behind the neck, holding the glove on the refs blindside, hitting on the break, ignoring refs warnings even after point deductions non-stop for twelve rounds?

        Grasp at more straws.

Khan didn't simply get points taken for pushing. He was spoiling all the time.

If he simply pushed and fought an otherwise very clean and respectable fight, the ref would have reason to be more lenient, but Khan was acting like most of the rules of boxing dont apply to him, acting like the ref had no authority and yet still expected the ref to save him every time Peterson got inside.

The rules haven't changed though and neither had the interpretaton of the rules until this fight.

There's no other recent fight where a guy has lost 2 points for pushing off.

It's not dangerous its just an outside guy making room for himself. , its just a tactic thats always been used.

Other refs aren't going to crack down on pushing off from now on. There was no mention from the governing bodies that pushing off would be looked on harshly from now on, as happens in other sports.

Its not consistant with other fights. Consistency from game to game or fight to fight is what an official should aim for.

People are carrying on like he bit someones ear off.

Dude if you read my previous comment you'll see that I never once said that Amir didn't do any of those things but I don't agree that he put his knee behind Lamont on "purpose" as well as using his elbow to drop him. As far as me trying to mask anything, stating someone fought well isn't masking fúck all as it's the truth. By the way the ref was right next to them when the elbow was thrown yet still missed it and called it a knockdown further evidence of the poor quality of the Referee.
