People trying to use older fights to say the pushing wasn't anything are ******. Rules change, sports change. As the human body continues to develop into bigger and stronger beings, the rules and the safety of the competitors do as well.
Look at the NFL for example, went from leather helmets to shock absorbent reinforced polycarbonate what-have-you.
To be fair, the pushing wasn't too bad, but it was blatant enough to get the referee's attention. Khan should've gotten the hint with the first deduction, he's lucky the ref didn't take another point for pushing Peterson's head down so frequently as well.
For Khan to say he was the clean fighter, yeah right!

Grasp at more straws.
Khan didn't simply get points taken for pushing. He was spoiling all the time.
If he simply pushed and fought an otherwise very clean and respectable fight, the ref would have reason to be more lenient, but Khan was acting like most of the rules of boxing dont apply to him, acting like the ref had no authority and yet still expected the ref to save him every time Peterson got inside.

There's no other recent fight where a guy has lost 2 points for pushing off.
It's not dangerous its just an outside guy making room for himself. , its just a tactic thats always been used.
Other refs aren't going to crack down on pushing off from now on. There was no mention from the governing bodies that pushing off would be looked on harshly from now on, as happens in other sports.
Its not consistant with other fights. Consistency from game to game or fight to fight is what an official should aim for.
People are carrying on like he bit someones ear off.Last edited by Furn; 12-13-2011, 06:26 AM.
