I'm a big Khan fan but....

...**** it, I'm really happy for Lamont. He fought like a true, hungry challenger.

I mean, just listening to Barry Hunter in the corner asking Lamont how much he wanted it, reminding him where he came from to get here....I nearly had tears in my eyes, knowing what Peterson went through, and the history they have together (if you don't know, see article below).

Lamont's story is the kind you find so often in boxing. It's the kind of sport so many take up because they have no other choice - so when Lamont gets the nod, how can you begrudge him that? He wasn't a blue-chip prospect carefully steered and hyped throughout his career, like Amir. He had to fight for everything. Boxing is the perfect metaphor for his life.

Even the way he celebrated once the decision was announced....he wasn't going flat-out crazy with joy. It was like he couldn't believe it. After all he went through, after being written off by everyone.....he'd actually achieved his dream. It was a beautiful, and that, and his whole performance, has made me a fan.

Boxing isn't just about the superstars with huge fanbases and profiles. Fighters like Lamont are the lifeblood of our sport.

He definitely deserves a little time to enjoy his achievement,

The immediate haste with which this rematch is being put together, it must feel to Peterson like all involved are just making arrangements for him to hand the titles back.

Expect him to fight even more bravely and determinedly to keep those marbles than he fought to take them last night.

I thought Peterson fought brilliantly and his corner were inspirational. It was Rocky stuff.
